I'm in the inauspicious position of having to take care of my elderly parents, so I traded my Lexus CT200h for an '08 XR. I needed room for a wheelchair (and my folding kayaks), and it has to be both respectable to take the fam to church, and also a little fun for me, while being ultra reliable and economical. Which it is, but now, of course, I want an XRS. So I'll be watching your channel with interest. Yes! There isn't much content out there. I've never seen this very typical Corolla color in an XRS. And I've never seen that dog-bar thing! Nice job! I agree, it really is the perfect daily.

Hey quick question as I’m looking into possibly during a tear down and rebuild on my transmission how do the cd001 transmission and cd009 transmission differ and could I swap all cd009 parts or most into my cd001 cause I bought the transmission for a 2jz swap with the seller saying 4th gear gets stuck no signs of it getting stuck without load but maybe under load it gets stuck so I want to inspect it before install so any insight would be great and I’m going to watch your videos more to get an understanding of what all controls 4th gear but a point in the right direction is very appreciated thanks for the informational video!👍
@AustinKamuela
@AustinKamuela Ай бұрын
From my knowledge which I would highly recommend getting a few others opinions and not just going solely off what I say. The CD001 and CD009 internally are the same other than the CD009 having the upgraded dual cone and triple cone brass syncro's, what I would do if I were you though is open both transmissions side by side to have visual verification of both being similar. That way you can be absolutely certain they are identical rather than taking someone's word for it. 3rd and 4th gear are on the same shifter fork/hub and 3rd gear is notorious for grinding in these transmissions so it might be worth your time if your opening up the transmission to replace the 3rd gear and 4th gear syncro but thats totally up to you. Thanks for the question and best of luck on your build!

@AustinKamuela
@AustinKamuela Ай бұрын
I keep all my transmissions and I don't waste any pieces from any of them. I unfortunately don't part my transmissions out just incase I for some reason need a back up part, I would strongly recommend you go to Amayama and buy a input shaft (I believe that is the part you are referring to, the shaft that goes through the clutch and connects to the pilot bushing) from them, I believe that the new input shafts from Nissan comes with a gear but it is definitely worth getting the shaft and gear together since its updated/improved. You do have to remove the bellhousing case to replace the input shaft though unfortunately....

@@Justjustin_z weight is definitely not the only difference between the two, I have experienced the stopping power of both, in my personal SC with the Supra brakes and a friends SC who has the LS400 brakes. Best thing to do is open the transmission up and visually see what is damaged. I would recommend getting the 3rd and 4th gear syncro's since Nissan updated from single cone to double cone which gives a smoother shift with no 3rd gear grind. Also make sure you get your parts from Amayama so that you aren't overpaying for OEM parts. Best of luck!

@AustinKamuela
@AustinKamuela 3 ай бұрын
I am personally running 18" wheels and the clearance is minimal....... The USDM stock Supra TT wheels are spec'd for the bigger calipers but other 17" wheels that aren't spec'd for the Supra might not fit. Thanks for the input though!
@shadyshinichi2JZ
@shadyshinichi2JZ 3 ай бұрын
I believe that can be said for most wheels, even 19" and up. But as far as the wheel diameter with respect to the barrel, 17" will clear. The face or disc of the wheel needs to be able to accommodate the larger caliper. I.E. my custom Work wheels for my 98 Supra Turbo, I went with R-Disc to ensure clearance of the caliper.
