Great video…. Going to do mine soon. No idea of proper torque for bolts? Now I see it looks like the bolts are reverse thread which I wouldn’t have suspected unless the camera is playing some tricks…

Thank you Ken. I just bought a very clean '97 Galaxy Open bow with the upgraded 7.4L Bravo one. I love this way to winterize. Your video is awesome, yes short but a no brainer. BTW, very nice boat you have. Dan in Utah.😊

Came across this video. I believe I followed everything you said but my temp went up to 180 degrees and I panicked and shut it down worried I burned up my impeller. Does the engine get hot because it’s being starved of forced water from the garden hose?
@dahobbs20089 ай бұрын
180 is where your thermostat opens. You want it to warm up to that before you introduce the antifreeze

Hey Ken! Thanks for the tip! I heading to get some jugs to rig me up a system tomorrow. You don’t even have to drain the block or exhaust manifolds this way just be done with it! I have the new Bravo outdrive with low water pickup and a special nose cone adapter for it. I hope it suck hard enough to bring that antifreeze up into the engine?! I always wondered how those impellers sucked with no pressure just gravity drain like your doing? Obviously it works for you!! I just spent $22k on a new rebuild so I’m nervous this year and late!!! Have about a week!

Thanks for the video! I noticed a small leak around the gasket of the risers on my 1996 aquaton 2350(kind of rare boat) with 350 Mag when i ran it on the hose to get it ready for summer. I have pretty much the same set up but i have hoses connecting to my risers where it looks like yours are capped off. I found the the leak was coming from the hose. But since i pulled the riser off the gasket was falling apart anyway so i will replace them. Im in Ohio too. Do you ever take your boat to Alum creek at all?

That’s how I do my 4.3L everyone tells me you need need to drain ur block in between the water and antifreeze. No the antifreeze displaces the water as it pumps through. I run 5gallons through mine and fog it so it acts like it wants to kill then when it smokes spray fogging oil till it dies. I do pull the hoses off each side of the water pump after and dump a gallon down each side to be sure. Prob over kill
@kenrobey27692 жыл бұрын
Maybe overkill but if that's the way you do it and it always works, no reason to change

Definitely oil, fogging spray is for outboard motors because you can't dump oil in a carburetor that is upright.

The outdrive is the transmission and driveshafts that come out of the back of the transom and the lower unit is the bottom of that where I have the hose hooked into. I live in eastern Ohio Sir and have did it this way since I bought my first boat in 1995

I have the same engine in a 93 Formula. Great video btw, I’m currently not getting water flow out the port side “ behind captains chair, I may have my sides mixed up” through hull exhaust. I often wondered how much water falls down into the stock stern exhaust and doesn’t make it through the captions call mechanism? I’m going to dig into this issue but wanted some feedback back on if this is common and where to start looking as far as why I’m not getting good water circulation out the port exhaust? Starboard side looks to have decent water flow out the through hull exhaust. Btw currently not having an over heating issue. Also experiencing some new electric issue that is effecting the firing but thats another topic if anyone is skilled in this area I’m all ears. Thanks

I know how to replace them, but just wanted to see if someone else used gasket cement. I can't tell if the old ones had cement on them or not from the last person who changed them. Guess I won't use any. (Note: the first camera was oriented correctly, but the second one was a reversed image) [ I wondered why all the accessories were backwards of my 454, and unscrewing the bolts in a clockwise direction ]
@kenrobey27693 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct on the camera. I didn't realize when I didn't get video that everything would be reversed like that. No I did not use any gasket cement. My originals didn't seem to have any on them. I've ran the boat 3 times now and not a drop of water whatsoever. Thanks for watching 👀
