That look that Seth gives is real Knowing it's all over

I love this movie. There’s really nothing quite like it. It doesn’t telegraph its punches, or give slather the presentation in meta data (music, for example) to make you prouder of yourself for following the thread. The story-telling has the calm, unemotional frankness of our antagonist. But today, watching this after listening to much analysis of the Trump assassination attempt, and YT videos of psychopaths, I find myself wanting more of a sense of danger and quiet macho in Fox’s portrayal. Just a hint, even. He’s a bit too fey and clubby for me at this moment, and I don’t believe him quite like I have before. I don’t want him dripping with malevolence-just once maybe a James Woods (Joe Pesci, even) kind of glance that chills the marrow.

Yet the best line in the film goes to Lebel. "How did you know whose phone to tap?" "I didn't. So I tapped all of your phones." Cheers

Agreed. It was a very strong opening ten minutes or so based on some truth as I understand it.

The whole cast was spot on. Cyril Cusack was also very notable as the amoral gunsmith. Brilliant interaction between him and fox.

The interview is in English. The three interviewers speak excellent English. Especially that one of them knows the phrase "queer the pitch". That phrase is /not/ known to every English speaker.

When films were real films, not a bunch of special effects and cgi: explosions, speed, people just running and screaming.

Did David Bowie take his thin white duke look from Edward Fox as the Jackal?

The book was brilliant. And then came Edward Fox and breathed life into the Jackal. Not to mention the French detective too who was nothing short of brilliant.
