@@TheSlawsAdventures ours is ‘ok’ ish but the Omnia is great and possibly more efficient. We used the oven grill for toast but now we have the ridgemonkey it’s quicker in there. At least Nikki remembered the cheese unlike some midnight feasts we’ve had :)

Bailey have got the heating/hot water right. You will always have diesel in your tank and every forecourt sells it. The underslung tanks fitted to the elddis CV range are becoming harder to fill as forecourts are beginning to do away with them. The sales staff won't tell prospective customers this. Hopefully bailey have provided enough space to fit an extra battery ( id also want another solar panel which would be better fitted by the dealers as if you do anything the dealership can remove the warranty from THEY WILL) Another way is to bond another 100w panel and connect with a Y cable and fit the biggest AH battery you can. Especially if you are off gridding which this van is well capable of doing

@@rob20452 we got them off a lass in our town who has a small business selling various things. Wasn’t off a recognised supplier. Think it was £60 for the pair but all gone now. They are zero gravity ones if that helps searching elsewhere.

@@rob20452 the ladders came with the new van. The covers are by dryrobe. They have them for £50 but you can get then for £45 elsewhere I think. What out you off Morocco?

Good luck with the transition to full timing. We sold up at the beginning of the year and a steep learning curve. We are currently doing a campsite warden job on a very small site in Scotland until the end of the season before hitting the road again. Plenty of advice out there . Go for it and life is for living thanks Dave

@@OnTheRoadAgain-NikkiandBilly we are on a really small site adult only. Very laid back and has been great. We finish up end of September. I personally would not work on the big sites and seems pretty full on . I retired at 60 and the boss is 54. Just take each day as it comes and we survived the first winter in Scotland. Will pick up a bit of work at times if required. We just go with the flow and see how it goes.

We started van life adventures 2 years ago, but found that we're so limited by our day jobs. At 52 we've still got 3 years til we can make the full time jump but so worried about how much you'd actually need to do it full time. Good on you for taking the plunge. Must have been a massive deep breath moment.

@@Stoneymontanna it still is. I think we will have to pick up work next year. But some days it’s panic, some days it’s relief, some days excitement,then other days we try not to think about it We are a bit older at 57. Not be real until we get on the ferry in November.

Yep we are worried but lucky to have no debt and pensions - won’t have much cash and will have to pick up bits of work - defo cashing in tax free and use some of that to pay remainder of van off. We’ve just made the jump - eeeeek x

@@OnTheRoadAgain-NikkiandBilly Yeh, agreed. I'd be the same. You can't really live van life in the UK with a day job, without budgeting for the majority of life on camp sites with the silver motorhome snobs. At which point it becomes very challenging. France on the other hand.....AMAZING!!!

was there in Apr not travelling in hotel. Never felt so unsafe as I did there. Beggers everywhere in your face, armed police everywhere. Definitely 3rd world part of Africa imo. They had a massive earthquake in 1966 but looked like it happened yesterday! I'm a big guy and not easily scared but I was on high alert there. I definitely wouldn't travel the area in a nice camper it just screams cashpoint over there. Might be wrong I'd like to hear other opinions

The house has some quirks from its age so we may be forced to air B&B it rather than rent. Not sure we fully understand the reasons yet to be honest.

@@lindarichards4108 hi I’ve just had a look and it is a Quest Superlite Stow Folding Table. Ours is the two piece one which folds in on itself. Can’t give you any real feedback as that was the first time it’s been used. Very very light, which is what we were after.

Cheers Tony. Billy is a civil servant and Nikki manages contract catering contracts. It's a big hit but while we are still fit enough to do stuff it feels right. We are 57 so a decade to the state pension.

Looks nice but, several issues I can see, why is the fridge at floor level?, The wardrobe should be above, the sun roof above the cab is wasted space, not sure about tambour door it impinges on the pinch point when you do the campervan shuffle ,nice looking van though

@@colinnewmarch1106 fridge on ours van is higher up and yep it’s much better for oldies like us. We had overhead storage in the cab on our previous van. We don’t on the new one but then Billy has stopped twatting his head off it once a day :) But we have so much more space in our new van we can afford to not miss it. With the door in there’s more space than ours to pass though. It’s a good use of space in a small, not so wide, van. The one 6kg gas bottle worries me more than anything else if you were abroad. It’s helped by the diesel heater but I think you’d have to get an underslung lpg tank as you couldn’t put an external filler point in.

@@TunaCrunch it would be no good for us as we needed a garage for the bikes. But for the price I think the insulation and ability to use it all year around is great. Think that’s what sets it apart from many similar or more expensive vans even without the extras. Our insulation is nowhere near as good as our van is cheaper with a cheaper build quality but had the space we needed at a price we could manage. I’d love our heater to have been diesel/hook up combo like this too. Gas panic is a real thing now we are planning a 4 month trip abroad.

Don't get me started about this...over Lancashire way, they call them Barms( which I think I had heard before) but I was in Warwickshire and they them "batches" there, which completely threw me. @@TheSlawsAdventures I’ve led walks there in August but this was even hotter than that. We did another one the next day about as hot again. But this one ends at a stunning beach :) I’m not taking 20kg pack next time we go

@@EMTBnorthyorkshiredad back and been to Vanlife fest. I’m doing a gig at Vans in the valley this weekend, then home with local gig weekend after that, then Newcastle for graduation, then Ard rock weekend so we will be riding over there but away from the race crowd if you are around, then lakes first weekend golf August for a mates final wainwright then who knows! If weather improves might try one of your moors rides. Then I retire early and we start planning for winter in the sun.
