I have a 92 318 I was sure had starter issues since these are notorious for, so bought an aftermarket one and took to a buddy's who has a mowing service for his top guy to install. After completion, starter still didn't have 14 volts to started, which is needed. So it's sat for awhile until I decide to dig deeper into it. I casually mentioned to another friend who had experienced the same problem. He said his ended up being the time control module. (A costly John Deere available part) that comes with around a $200 price tag. Hecsaid He jumpers the purple wire around the module, and installed a starter button .... now it spins right over. I haven't fooled with it, but hoping that fixes it. I'm not into 'rigging' up fixes, but I'm not into dumping another 200 for a module. I've been that route with another 318 already. I use to be the world's hottest 318 fan but the longer I own 318s, the less impressed with them I am. New, the best thing Deere ever made ... but old with hours, they're a maintenance nightmare. P.S. expensive too!

I've got a 2013 regular cab 2.7 manual that I'm installing cruise control on currently. I'm using factory parts and had to install a switch on the clutch pedal, but was lucky with the harness being prewired for that. It was a real PITA installing the switch and getting the connector on it, as it's located in a high pocket under the dash. Need to run a ground from the clock spring and a lead to the ECM behind the glove box, hope it works.

Power for the 318, 420, and 430 starting circuit starts from the key switch to a 20A fuse to one side of the front PTO switch (not the activation side) to the rear PTO switch (if applicable) to the Brake Switch (only on later models) to a different contact on the key switch to the S wire on the solenoid. Sec 240-15-3 of the TSM. Hope this helps someone. All in line safety switches must be closed before power will be sent to the S wire of solenoid.

Good Video. I replaced a 2007 Honda Pilot muffler in Boston in the winter before, so I feel you buddy. It was a nightmare to remove the rusted nuts. I replace the transmission fluid on my 2006 Honda Accord V6 since I bought the car brand new at every 15K miles. I have 368K miles on my Accord now. The transmission is still shift smoothly. You are pointing at the correct drain bolt for the transmission. I measured the amount I took out and put in the same amount.

Glad to know you like it! Still going well, I imagine? I'm about to buy one with balancer combo($2,700 or so). Know if the balancers are any good? Really hoping they have it in stock and can be setup quick. Also thinking aboit getting their 80 gallon compressor($1,400 or so). Any experience there? Also, a bit of advice, it makes for much better videos if you get a bit organized first. This could've been 1/3 as long with more info.

Yes, it still works awesome, I am currently moving to a bigger shop since I bought a trailer park about 1 month ago, so I plan on following up with better quality content for the channel, and doing an update video on the machine as to the couple minor issues I have had. If you advertise doing the tire service for hire, I charge $5-$10 per tire swap if they are brought off the vehicle, however some bigger stuff and low-pros I won't do, or I will charge $20-$30 per tire. But the machine pays for itself within the first few months passively doing it 1-2 times a week. As for air compressors, I bought a Black Diamond brand (a Knockoff of the Iron Horse brand) and it has worked excellent. 3 years on it so far and changed the filter and oil every 6 months. Also, it is a good idea to buy an automatic air tank drainer off eBay, about $80 and it works off air pressure when the machine is running to open a valve and drain any water in the tank for a few seconds. I just bought that today as well but have not installed the compressor at the new place. PS As for the tire balancing machines, I HIGHLY recommend using them vs balancing beads. I have about a 70% success rate with the beads working, but I just did not have the space to buy a balancing machine at this shops location. I am going to buy a used, older, name-brand balancing machine I think, but I may end up going with a $900 Mayflower brand off eBay, have not totally decided on that yet.

I installed this same unit on a Wrangler and it worked fine for the most part. The only things i wish it was capable of is increase/decrease speed in small increments. Also, sometimes it would disable itself when using directionals. Support was awesome as you say but I was told a 5 way relay would solve the disable issue and I was lost on how to do that.

Question? Is the transmission shift solenoid located in the engine oil pan or the transmission oil pan itself? I have read so many sights. Some say it’s inside the engine oil pan. Please advise. Appreciate you.
@samsauto1640
@samsauto1640 10 ай бұрын
Sorry, I am just now seeing this. I have never heard of a transmission solenoid being ANYWHERE near an engine before, ley alone IN the engine. Every single trans solenoid I have dealt with has always been inside the transmission oil pan, or on the valve body in the trans oil pan. It's possible that people mean you have to remove the engine oil pan in order to access that solenoid, but that's unlikely.

@@samsauto1640 Thanks for replying. I looked under my car, the transmission side. The only one I see is the drain plug. Or do I go under the oil drain plug itself? I was also told it’s the one below the two big hoses for the radiator, just below the intake?!

Just fyi: There are aftermarket dash bezels available now that accommodate a full 2 DIN radio screen for our trucks... and your truck being as old as mine, the original bezels do start to get brittle even with the best of care so I'm thinking might be worth getting the aftermarket DIN 2 bezel for my truck and a new radio at the same time. Now I just need to find the right radio because I want a full Android OS with at least 2 GB ram as well as an optical disk player.... which seems to be a difficult combo to find! Arghhhh!

I just bought an l35 yesterday. Came with bucket, manure bucket with teeth (great with getting logs and branches) and a baler spear. Has small hydro leak. For $5500! Taking it to new Holland to have some work done to it! Absolutely love it. Couldn’t believe the power. High gear makes the lever rattle terribly because they never used it, but it works, not sure what it’s supposed to sound like when turning but it gets loud when turning it.

For me, it screams like a banshee when I turn in high gear. I just did a TON of work on the machine a couple of weeks ago and filmed some of it but won't have it edited for a while. My only gripe with it so far is the parts availability and price. I bought 3/4 of the last gaskets on the internet for the left and right-hand drive pumps where mine was leaking slowly. But the wheel seals around the drive hubs were close to $150 a piece or more if I remember correctly. So even though it was a hack repair, I smothered them in RTV and they do not leak so far after 10 hours of hard use moving snow.

I am super bummed out that he did not cover wiring up the factory amp. I hope it is not that difficult. My factory head unit has two connectors plugged in the back of it plus the antenna of course. I am getting no sound out of the rear speakers presumably because this second connector runs to the rear speakers and a factory amp?? It has gotten late on me now so I will have to do some testing with mine tomorrow. If I discover is that the second connector is indeed part of my problem, I will post a follow-up if possible, so that other people will have an idea what they are getting into.

I noticed I did not mention 2 things. The first being that the bolt heads on the front were 22MM. Secondly MAKE SURE you jack up the vehicle when making these adjustments, you cannot do it with it on the ground or you will very likeyl damage the threads!!! Well, its coming up on a year now from when we did this, and I made a comment about talking about tire wear. Unfortuneately the customer has driven this car all of 10 miles over the last year, so I cannot speak to how much this actually wears the tires without any new allignment.
