Great work Rob. 👍🏻 Can’t wait for part 2. The Policar F1 cars are stunning in looks, but are somewhat disappointing if you expect out of the box performance. I have a few of them and have similar issues.. I also saw the HRW coverage on the Ferrari 312. Most of the F1 cars are a bit of a nightmare to get apart and it’s too easy to lose those little spacer washers. I might try and drill a 1.8 mm cavity through the plastic to thread the cables through…?

mine didn't break but they rub against the axle....The axle design is crappy..but our club races them.

I also have a March 2-4-0 but it'll probably never get race prepped as I wouldn't be able to race it as it never raced in F1. The only 6 wheeled F1 that actually raced was Tyrrell's P34.

That's what I build Rob, mostly pre 90s American iron.

Please fix the F1 march's guide issue, I have the same problem on quite a few old Scalextric F1's, Renault RS01, Tyrell 008, Ferrari T3 etc etc,

I enjoyed every minute of this video. One car I have which keeps hiding at the back of the job-list-pile is a Scaley XJ220 which would also benefit from the same process you've gone through with this F40.

Whether or not the car is now a world beater is irrelevant. The improvement in handling, making it easier to drive is sufficient reason enough for doing the work that you did. Quite apart from that, you obviously enjoy the challenges involved in upgrading these older slotcars. A job well done.

I have lots of unboxed slot cars and I really want to get boxes for them but I can’t find anywhere where I can get them. Where do you get your and what do you use to make the background ??
