Preemergent......I am researching and will hopefully be successful when I apply spring, 2025. I would prefer to use liquid as that is easy for me and not confident enough to use granular and might burn my lawn. Can you please provide the steps I should take. I know timing is important and will purchase a soil themometer, then get to work. Thanks.

@@kevinwarthon2573 Have you ever aerated your lawn? Aeration and overseeding your lawn is great at this point in the season to help prepare it for next year

@XORGNMN This was for demonstration because alot of people can't get the orange top where they live. So I wanted to show that the yellow top works also. But I prefer the orange top because it handles crabgrass and the yellow top doesn't.

Don't apply seed after pre emergent. If you plan to overseed, do the overseed first and make sure the grass establishes a strong root system first then but down the pre emergent.

I just bought my 1st house and never learned how to maintain weeds by my parents. I just mowed for them as a teenager. Anyway, my lawn is getting out of control with clovers and other weed types so I'm worried and stressing my HoA will eventually say something. I've sprayed with Round-up safe for grass type (I have St Augustine) and manually pulled them and both seem to be working as they are turning yellow after one application 3 days ago. However, the spots I manually pulled now have dead grass spots. Do you think placing plugs on those spots will work to regrow my grass? If so, what is a simple way to plant them?

@jowats3540 Yes plugs will work. That's actually the only way to repair st augustine grass.

@@SeahawkAz the straw is better for holding the seed in place. Peat moss helps the seed germinate faster because it adds material to the soil

I’ve have tried to order the orange top and online they said they can’t ship to Texas I can only find yellow top like Walmart had them for 3 bucks I bought 5 of them but I have crab grass so I needed orange top anywhere I can find it?

@beastrod00 the orange top ingredients may be on the banned list in Texas. So they may restrict you from buying that one. You can try Bioadvanced Lawn weed & crabgrass killer or Round up for Lawns if available

I like to use rubber gloves over cotton gloves when using chemicals because cotton gloves absorb moisture and the rubber gloves are waterproof. I have a set of both pairs by Scott's

You can use dawn dish soap non antibacterial kind or Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo as a surfactant. Those are cheaper alternatives. You can also buy a dedicated surfactant if you want also.

We just got back from vacation as well. We've got some clover and some other weeds around here but not planning on doing anything until September. Plan to overseed abit in the bare areas. Not sure if I should put down fertilizer and some sort of weed spray as well ?

I just got a wifi water timer and Eden sprinklers. Looking at a peat moss spreader now. My lawn came back after all that rain. The wife is already talkn bout the high water bill for next summer😂. I ordered some of that Barenbrug tall fescue seed.

I can’t tell what kind of grass I have but I want to seed tall fescue without having to pull up the existing grass. After I get the weeds together would you advice I just seed the grass I want without getting rid of the old grass???

Where do you live? Is it a hot or cold climate? You can overseed the grass with the seed of choice and eventually it'll over take the lawn unless you have bermuda grass. That grass type is tough to get rid of

@@LawnAmateurI live in Southern California where it’s hot but it can get cold during certain months. I really want tall fescue because I’m not a fan of Bermuda or st Augustine which I think I have a sprinkle of both in my font yard.

The crabgrass will die after the first frost, apply some prodiamine in the early spring it will keep the new crabgrass seeds that got released from your present crabgrass from germinating
