Be great to ask Cermack or you or your future guests what they think about "talking to your playing partners" during serious events. In those events, everyone is trying to beat you. In the college matches that I have played in, I always enjoyed talking to and getting to know the players in my group; not quite a full Trevino but I was a chatter box. That can throw your opponent off. I wasn't trying to do that to them on purpose - but it made me feel more relaxed. The higher the importance, the less responding (ha) I generally got back. Keep in mind too, if you are only playing with your buddies, talking is a constant. Silence is another aspect of tournament play to deal with and to get used to. In college, there are no caddies and coaches made me over think. I would tell them stay away or keep it short. Always enjoy the POD!

Cerm here - I think forms of gamesmanship are always fascinating to talk about in matchplay. You are a dead on about finding a way to relax in tournament play between shots and the only way can be through talking. Especially early in the round where it isn't unnatural to talk to your playing competitors - ask questions, learn about each other, etc. Helps ease the nerves early!

Low key would be thinking “holy fuck I was SO bad these dudes clocked me across the fairway, and felt so bad for me they wrote a personal note and donated to my ‘what a fuckin slice’ charity fund” then cry in the parking lot

Nice, and that is why I always say Tin Cup has a terrible ending. No one would celebrate/remember someone blowing a US Open because they refuse to take a drop, no matter how the ball got in the hole.

The lesson here is not the grip, it's taking a lesson, preferably from a PGA pro with good creds. Beginners need to get this in their head! Don't learn from your buddies that can't break 90 on their best day, go take a series of lessons! If this is not possible then buy Ben Hogan's Five lessons book, it covers the grip extensively.

i hit my pitching wedge 140 yards ONCE so purely, it was like 2 summers ago, and i can STILL feel the dopamine rush when i think back to that sweet sweet pure feeling of contact… still awful at golf, but i am glad i was introduced to it. it teaches character, hard work, honesty, and determination

What's frustrating is we believe we check all the boxes for a good swing everytime but get such inconsistent results.

The greatest comment I ever heard when it comes to short putts was Gary McCord (who was one of the best putters of his day on tour)... They asked him what do you think about over your short putts. "Nothing". Having a brain that can "black out\brain off\pick your phrase" is huge in putting. Rory needed that!

There are two levels of memberships. The basic one gets you two big courses which has one with 2 18 hole courses and the other one 3 9 hole courses. It I remember they cost about 12k a year. And the one were it gets you everything is about I think 22k a year
