Thank you for reminding us all that SCVM is a wonderful place to visit all times of the year. As I don't live on LI any longer, the SCVM KZfaq subscription keeps me in touch with one of my favorite places. Best regards.

My family and I spent many a happy time over the years at your museum.I ESPECIALLY remember a guard showing me, as a young boy,the nautical museum feature in its floor. When he opened the museums doors, let sunlight in,closed doors, lights out,the whole floor glowed ulra marine like the sea!!!!!Do you still show this-I NEVER FORGOT IT AND LATER in my architecture wanted to repeat it. I LOVE THE WHOLE PLACE-John

On this trip the Vanderbilt's stopped in Mobile Alabama and planned to visit the house Vanderbilt's mother grew up in. When Vanderbilt and his group showed up at the house they were rebuffed by a servant who informed them that since they had not made arrangements with the mistress of the house ahead of time they would not be allowed in. Vanderbilt complained and asked the servant to speak with the mistress again and to make sure she knew he was a Vanderbilt. The servant returned and told him he would not be allowed in and the the mistress said that because he was a Vanderbilt he should know better than to show up unannounced!
