@user-dv7hb2sc9m3 күн бұрын
Yep, having a light up front helps a lot as it gives you the mount & electric wires but if that's the plan, to make this bike a dual sport as in making it legal on the road, there's a few things I've read that needs to happen ;; one as you know is a proper High/Low beam headlight & all the turn signals but there's another thing you might wanna check out before you hook it all up? There's a CDI or electronics that must make enough power(electric) to feed all the accessories like lights/signals. Companies making these bikes only give you the electronic ability to feed the minimum on the bike b/c they ain't gonna put a larger more expensive CDI/electronic than the current stuff that's on it requires. So you'll need a bigger "Electronic Part" & I don't know what the part is called but if it's too small you'll be blowing fuses. I had to add a bigger one to a bike I had just to give me more power for extra lights. If you do change the light you have to a low power one you might be able to get by w/o beefing up the electric output but you run the rish of blowing fuses if ya don't/// you probably already knew all that but I wanted to share with you in case you didn't know? peace & I'll watch you do it all....

Wow, you've taken pretty far..... their is a CDI or I forget the proper term for the component that(Stator?) but there is one that is responsible for creating the electricy within the bike & it makes sure you don't run off the battery which will leave you screwed down the line. You won't have lights at night & stuff like that. Cars use an alternator but I can't recall the term. I doubt it even costs that much, probably could use the part off the XT250, WR250, or any dual sport. I say it b/c that an easy fix if they'll fit? @@Slapshod Right on. I finally tried the 16/39 gearing, and I doubt I'll go back. Unless it's a hardcore week of serious off roading perhaps. With this gearing, we don't even need a tach. Shift right at 20, 30, 40, and 50 mph. I'll bet mine isn't even spinning much past 6k at 75mph now. And with proper jetting, a snorkel drop and a decent pipe, there is enough throttle response to counteract any loss of torque the higher gearing causes. I'm honestly not sure why the SM does not come this way from the factory. It's hands down a far better street bike now. Off roading is still pretty effortless, too. A little more clutch and a little less engine braking, but totally doable. It may crawl stall now tho. It hasn't yet however.
