He says he wanted his parents to be proud of him ? HELL with your parents most parents are narcissistic people you should be proud of yourself for the accomplishments you achieved by your HARD WORK! You did what you did for YOU !

He says at around 50 mins he lost so much & failed so much ??? What ???? You took 1st twice 2nd & 3rd who in their right mind wouldn’t be happy with that ???? Only lost 2 matches at NCAAs in 4 years! People are ridiculous always look at the bad & not the good

Man, Minnesota actually needed Simmons at that time too as they would have not brought in Bobby Lowe from Juco and then he and Jayson Ness would have been a great 1-2 punch because Simmons would of been a sr when Ness was a freshmen and Reiter got hurt that year and they were forced to pull Mike Thorns redshirt

Great podcast Shane! McDonough is a beast. He was such an inspiration to me as a sophomore in HS, going to my first NCAAs in 2010 when he won it as a Freshman.

I met Mark back in 2011 or 12 at the Michigan Grappler tournament when my oldest son was wrestling. He was a very humble kid then, and he hasn't changed at all. 👍

Shane, this has to be the best reporter/athlete interview that I've ever heard. Fantastic questions. Two great friends, both of whom clearly love the sport, and are just having a great time talking wrestling together. Keep up the great work Shane. I'm a new big fan.

It's always so impressive to hear from excellent wrestlers who have a life and personality that are bigger than wrestling.

I became convinced that Mark Hall has a second brain that controls his lower extremities. When he was in a scramble or difficult position, he always seemed to be able to move a minimal amount and suddenly he has a TD or reversal. It was eerie to watch. Mark has more mat sense than any wrestler I can remember seeing. Now he's at Penn imparting his wisdom. And yet he's still a successful wrestler in freestyle.
