Long ago, the live music accompaniment really did justice to those calypsoes. Listen to the horn man, how he recreates the sound of a rooster🐓 🐓 🐓

When one speaks of kalypso,Satire is the main attraction.There's no one to me that captures this more than The Mighty Cypher.We have to appreciate the work and effort of these Great ones:Cypher,Spoiler,Fighter,Growling Tiger, Christo and others who gave us Satire and beautiful music.Thanks!

Only adults were allowed to hear these lyrics in the Tents, because the well-organized institutional church would never have allowed Redifusion to play them over the airways. This would have been listed as "SINFULL" in some dusty old book. Oh my god, this is great.

I had a record with this song 40 years ago, can still play the song, my way, but I have been looking for it ever since! I am so glad I found it! Is it biblical lyrics or something else? Take care and greetings from Jonas, Gothenburg Sweden. 😊

Thank you for sharing this timeless song. As a child, I went on many a boat ride in New York City and Calypso music was always played. This song had everyone on the dance floor -- especially the women who would use their fingers to help raise their dresses up a little as they danced. Memories... I have the album but the sound quality isn't as good as it once was -- the sound quality of this recording is very good. Thanks again!

Where is 3 cheers for Worrall this is the west indian cricket test its a double a side record???
@Bacchanalia16 Жыл бұрын
So I thought I had messed up when digitizing the record/creating the video, but I just checked my copy and this is what plays on the "3 Cheers For Worrell" side. You're totally right though, listening to both again this should be "West Indian Cricket Test." I'd be curious to know if all copies of this have the sides switched, or just mine! Here's my transfer of "3 Cheers For Worrell," btw: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZqqnKpetM-bYok.html

I love Duke. We were friends. It was always sweet when we would meet up. What a very gracious man. Miss my special friend. We met at the Windward Passage Hotel in St.Thomas, Carnival time , back in 1975. His show at the Carnival tent in Hospital ground was awesome. He would be there most every year. ❤️ He was such a Sharp dresser. Never anyone like him since.
