This is so insightful! Thank you! What do I do if I want to change the panning on a track in the middle of a song?

Joe, your posts are really helpful, thx!! I'm a rank amateur, songwriter, who just wants to record my songs. My voice is quite raspy - is there a way to deal with that with this (or some other) tool??? Voice lessons are unlikely....

I've tried using the amps in the app... Just not for me especially when I am looking for a sound that match the B tuning for a really heavy tone... So I think I will just use a mic to amp for the sound that I already have. Thanx for the tips though.

Presonus add something similar to vocalign in studio one 7... i hate the fact that i have to manually time stretch the transients for every vocal stack/double/harm and also the guitars! it is sooo time consuming

One thing is hard for me to understand - what should be aligned to the grid? Is it a transient peak itself, or is it the beginning of a sound, zero crossing? Studio one alignes a transient peak to the grid if I press Q, but it is hard to detect peaks on basses and strum guitars, so I can't align them between each other accurately

Get real. Now use the settings the majority of pros are working on: 48kHz @ 24 bits

Sorry to tell you this is too complicated and too much to do compared to Logic pro. Using logic pro the video would be 30 seconds long and we would do all that

I wish I had someone to send my mixes to somebody that can get the job done lol. I've drove myself insane trying to learn how to mix and master I feel like I've went backwards. Stuff I made in 2020 when I first started to try sounds better than stuff now (I got 7.4k plays on a track in 2020 on Spotify and that's what kinda drove me insane as I focussed on getting the mix better rather than keep grinding and mixing everything, as I only mix something now if I feel like it's going to be 'good enough'). If anyone actually knows where / someone I can go to send my FL file to or get in contact with to help it would be greatly appreciated.

I can mix for you for $60/track if its vocals and a mp3/wav single track instrumental. 100/song if the beat has stems. I can do the first mix for free to show u what you would be getting

I dont try to master alot. After bouncing, I'll pull a little mud out, cut some rumble, and maybe band limit with Weiss. Using a Karacter Cube, I'll configure it to put harmonics into the signal and thats about it. When mixing, I'll run the track through the Dangerous D/A so I dont do it again at the mastering stage. It makes it so easy to flip back and forth for changes that you didnt notice in the mixing phase.

The two main people I follow for production advice (Joe Gilder and Forest Whitehead) are always singing Studio One's praises so I decided to install the demo to see if it suited my workflow. I'm a Reaper user and didn't think I'd ever switch - on the 3rd day of the trial I bought Studio One. I was more than impressed. Drag and drop, the GUI, and the quality of the instruments and effects are quite impressive. Learning you have so many tutorials specific to Studio One was the icing on the cake. I already watched half a dozen or so but I decided to just start at the beginning of this series and watch them all so I don't miss anything important. Thanks for all you do Joe. You and Forest have made a believer out of me. :)
