Very informative. Thank you Can I ask, did you already plan to use your own router or did you not like the one they gave? I recently got mine installed and their router and mesh system isn't the best in my opinion, if you live in a house with two floors. The router will usually be in the corner of your house and although the coverage boost will get the Wi-Fi around the house, the speeds are considerably less. I was thinking to look in to whether I can just get a better router/modem and keep the mesh system to boost the coverage or whether I would need to change the whole thing which would up the costs! The speed is good if you are near the main router but if not i max out at about 300-350mb/s. The aim is to try and get a consistent level of 600-700mb at least around the house on Wifi.

I planned to use my router and Aimesh. I didn't even try using theirs. I have one AiMesh mode and it gives great performance. On my older WiFi devices I get around 350mbps but on new WiFi standards I get over 700.

Fantastic, this worked for me with just one problem. Got up early this morning to do this before the kids and their tablets connected and it worked first time with my new TP-Link BE9300. Unfortunately I've fallen victim to my BT landline now not working due to the SH2 being removed. I do see some comments on here mentioning this so will have to do some research, my partners moaning about it now as we have only just moved to BT on a new contract. Our landline was really only in place for emergency calls anyway but will see what I can do but really don't want both routers set up. Excellent video and was straight to the point, you got another subscriber here. 👍

@@Builtbypete Thanks for the reply Pete, I'm clutching at straws here but going to try and look for maybe some kind of adaptor/decoder from BT that may fit into one of the ethernet ports on my TP-Link that allows the phone connector access or even some type of BT WiFi only phone but chances are probably zero. I do have an Openreach engineer coming to the house Monday as I had issues at the start of my BT contract which I managed to resolved myself. If I don't cancel do you think there is anything he/she could do with the other Openreach box below my fiber one? The older one that houses the two phone connectors before the fiber was installed, I'm assuming they are dead ports now or do you think they will look at what I've done and after he's drunk the coffee I made him say "not our problem" and leave, as my internet connection is giving me exactly what I want and I've chosen to ditch the SH2. A long shot or will I just be wasting both our time. Thanks
@Builtbypete
@Builtbypete 5 күн бұрын
The BT digital phone is coded to their service. Your old box is likely dead and BT are switching off the old PSTN network anyway. Can you cancel their landline phone and maybe go with a separate VoIP provider.
@David-ec2qp
@David-ec2qp 5 күн бұрын
@@Builtbypete yeah that was probably our best option. We were only 12 days into our contract so contacted BT to cancel the landline. Explained the situation and the guy was fine about it, he also said as the contract has been changed we will be getting another router sent out EE one this time, even though I said I didn’t want it. I’ll look into VoIP phones when I get around to it. Thanks for the advice Pete 👍

Generally, you want to use the WAN port of the satellite to hook it to the existing network, either to the router's LAN port or to a switch that connects to the router. You can also daisy-chain the nodes. In a mix of wired and wireless backhauling setups, it's best to have the wireless satellites connected directly to a router or a wired satellite.
