How is the built in wedge? Uncomfortable at all?
@PhotoCapturedКүн бұрын
@jlinka79 For my body type, and knowing where my sweet spot is, the built-in wedge is far more comfortable than any foam add-on. In my case, I have not experienced any discomfort, and I wear mine for 12-16hrs a day, depending on what I'm doing. I have wedge add-ons for my Certum3 and still recommend it, but if appendix carry is what you're looking for, then the built-in wedge is pretty great!

is that a personal size bible or compact?
@PhotoCapturedКүн бұрын
@Glassed_in_Nature I've been trying to figure that out for over a decade! It's larger than a Pitt Minion and slimmer than a traditional compact from most publishers. While being the same footprint as a Nelson Compact, it's barely an inch thick. All while maintaining a really great font size. Mine is the red letter or Emerald Text edition, but otherwise identical to this one: KJV Standard Text Edition (Black French Morocco Leather) a.co/d/drIzRA0 I also have this Nelson NKJV compact: NKJV, Compact Center-Column Reference Bible, Black Genuine Leather, Red Letter, Comfort Print a.co/d/3ZDYT3q I sincerely hope this helps, and that you find what you're looking for!

Could you do a breakdown of all the springs/parts you replaced over the lifespan of this gun? Maybe elaborate on if you were changing things out preemptively or after they broke. After that many rounds, did you notice and recurring weak spots or parts breakages? Thanks for this video, I found it really fascinating.
@PhotoCaptured9 күн бұрын
@Bakercakes77 thanks for this excellent question. I have addressed it elsewhere. However, I am happy to share again! The RSA I just repalce every 5-6k or whenever the pistol does not return to battery with a full magazine and attempting to chamber a round with it pointed straight up. (Gen3 or below should be every 3k, otherwise you risk battering the frame.) Trigger return spring was replaced around the 10-12k mark due to catastrophic failure. Since then, I just replaced it every 8k. The striker spring I replaced at each 20K mark after a streak of light primer strikes after the 30k mark. It can take a lot, but I want it to work reliably. The locking block I replaced at 40k based on a trusted recommendation. There is risk of stress failure, micro fractures, and even a catastrophic breakdown. Rather than risk the slide to face result, I chose to replace it. I have since sent it off to Glock Smyrna for analysis and opinion. No word back as of yet, other than that it is received and being looked at. All push pins get replaced every 10k. In total less than 100 beans to upkeep the pistol, the rest has been ammo related, and that's come out to about 16k over the last decade and a half. Even if it failed tomorrow, I've more than gotten my value out if it.

my guy - you got me jonesing for that tenicor belt and holster! sure seems like you vouch for it. any thoughts on sizing? anything else you think I should consider?
@PhotoCaptured9 күн бұрын
@elyperez9885 I'm going to be doing an in depth demo of the various belts I've used over the last decade. Top three: Tenicor ZERO unless you need it to be acceptable for showing. Blue Alpha Gear Basics, again concealed only. (I knock this one a bit because of the velcro...) Kore Essentials EDC in your preffered color or leather. Great for dressy occasions, or if you're carrying OWB. Kinda sucks for appendix carry though, because the buckle is WAY over engineered. The ZERO is a truly game-changing belt, and I'm just one of many saying it's SOLID. Go through your pants, select the ones that fit the most comfortably, not the ones you like how you look the best... comfort. Look at the waist size of those pants and order your ZERO Belt accordingly. I wear a 34x36 in Wrangler, and Levi's so ordered a 34 belt, I have almost too much extra tail, but it tucks away just fine. If anything I might have chosen a 32 belt, but the pant size is your safest bet, and make use of the 30 day no questions exchange if needed. The guys over at Tenicor will always take care of their customers.

@@PhotoCaptured DUDE, I appreciate the advice! As far as holsters, it seems like you also really dig the VELO. Hopefully this week I'll be giving them a try. Have you tried or considered some of the other IWB tenicor holsters?
@PhotoCaptured8 күн бұрын
@elyperez9885 happy to help man, get sound advice, and then play a little trial and error. If you're starting with good stuff, you are going to have a much easier time. My wife is a brilliant musician and can play a flute or piano very well, but she also knows how to work with the "lesser" stuff. A basic keyboard, or poorly tuned piano, even a cheap flute. But it's far easier for her to use something that's good, and focus on the music rather than the instrument. Belts and holsters are kind of the same. I have my preferences now, and yes, Tenicor is my go-to. I've used the Certum3 series and have a couple. They are quite excellent for what they are, but because appendix carry is my primary method no matter the dress attire, I tend to select the VELO4 most of the time. The Certum series has the benefit of being able to flex into other carry positions, such as behind the hip, or off centerline. The Velo is basically appendix only. The Tier1 holsters are also well regarded for good reason, but if you go that route I recommend selecting from their basic holster options. The sidecar has been surpassed in comfort and reliability, but some people still like them. PHlster is another superb option, and Harry's Holsters is right there, along with Dark Star Gear. Preference is individual, and subjective. Quality makers that are incorporating well thought out designs for durability, reliability, and comfort will make a huge difference. Carrying with a cruddy holster really is unpleasant. Hope that helps, and please! Joing the PHLster Concealment Workshop on Facebook. It is truly an invaluable tool. If you don't have Facebook or don't like the format, then check out their videos here on KZfaq.

@@PhotoCaptured Appreciate all that, brother - I'll be sure to check that out! How do you feel about the optic on your PDP? You think you'll ever get around to putting one on your Glock?
@PhotoCaptured6 күн бұрын
@elyperez9885 happy to help ✌️ Dot optics have their place, and I really enjoy the one on my PDP, but I won't ever mill my Gen4. At some point, I'll do a Gen5 with an optic though, it's a nice piece of kit, but not something I have to have. If you're on the fence, it's definitely worthwhile. High-level irons shooters will definitely benefit from an optic. New shooters can do really well with them, but they can also encourage some bad habits. I defer to Aaron Cowan, Scott Jedlinski, and Tim Herron when determining if an optic is right for the individual. They are far more versed in the subject and capable of being much more objective than I am.

@moosegoose1282 funny enough, that has actually happened twice... Both instances ended up being a good laugh for the K9 units at the location I was entering, as I had already declared the need for a lock box on site. I don't do a tear down to deep clean. Just soak in warm water and sink top dish soap. Use a tooth brush to scrub, and one pipe cleaner for the tight spots. Rinse well and then dry it out with an air blower. Basically I let the pistol tell me when this is necessary, so if the trigger feels gritty, or the mag release is depressing oddly I do a soak and scrub the internals.

Great review! I like guns but haven’t gotten into them too much, other than owning a few when I was younger. As a newbie, I’m curious, how do you keep track of how many rounds have cycled through your gun?
@PhotoCaptured12 күн бұрын
@Faben202 Dude, welcome to the awesome world of firearms. Here's to many years of safe use! I'm actually working on my layout to explain this on video, but here's the short of it. I keep a Field Notes dot journal for each firearm I own, and simply mark off a tally for each box of ammo put through it, and when I do a parts change or replacement due to wear. It's definitely excessive in some ways, but I figured if armed forces and police armorers are doing it, then it might be useful for me. This is an example of what some of my tallies look like written up rather than just marked in the notebook. Walther PDP Compact SD Pro 02-24-2023 806rnds on Standard Silver RSA 21rnds Green Suppressor RSA 04-03-2023 Holosun 507C-GR added at 92rnds (Replacement under warranty, on stand-by) 509T mounted at 516rnds (New Battery on 509T Duracell, 06-26-2024) Savage Apex 110 .300Win-Mag 10-08-2021 63rnds Suppressed 57rnds (Zero confirmed with Federal/Barnes 180gr TSX factory load.) I indicate suppressed versus bare bones because the suppressor can increase back pressure on some firearms. Rather than nitpick which ones are affected, I just indicate for all accordingly.

@tiffdtate short answer is to get both. I'll be doing an in depth video on the Walther, and what I love about it, but there's a reason I got it. They brought out an update that is worth having, and ironed our some minor issues that previous iterations had. If you're wanting something to carry easily and confidently right off the bat, I have to recommend the Glock, but if you are able and willing to get what's needed for the Walther. Well it's worth having, and a SOLID choice, but a little bulkier.

How long will a gun last??? I have a 19 Gen 5 bought it like 2 years ago
@PhotoCaptured13 күн бұрын
@michaelbecker3513 Many, many, MANY years, if well taken care of! My uncle inherited the rifle that my great grandfather acquired new from the factory in 1928. It's a Remington pump action in .22LR, and every single family member that I can think of learned to shoot with it. Some of us even used it in competition and placed well with it. My great-grandmother received that rifle as a wedding present when she was 18. Her daughter learned on it, and she taught her four kids how to shoot with it. There are 21 first cousins, and we all learned to shoot using it. Now that Grammy has been gone for 14yrs, her great great grandkids are learning to shoot with it. The one long-standing rule is, if you use it, then you have to clean and oil it. Several of us are certified armorers, and gun smiths by hobby, so that rifle has been carefully preserved in family history for a very long time. I personally fired more than 15k rounds of 22LR through that rifle, and it was just as accurate from shot one to the 15k mark. Basically, if you take care of it and do your part, it's going to be around for a long time to come! Certain rifle calibers and necked cartridges in general will have their limitations due to flame cutting and corrosion. But overall, you're taking charge of a tool that can last a very long time. Take care of your Glock and it'll be around for a good while 👌
