Hi hope you can help me again to clear up some confusion. Some of my violets have tight center crowns, which I have read is a sign of excessive light. However, these same violets have their leaves stretching upward, a sign of not enough light. I know that tight centers can also be a result of over fertilization. I'm not sure what to do!! Thanks for your help!

Thank you so much for getting back to me and for all the information. I don’t believe I have any gnats in the house, I have the blue light in the plugs. It’s called Nevo and have caught maybe one or two gnats. I did try the peroxide but after a while I got tired of seeing those creatures so I just discontinued the wick watering. What are mosquito bits? Thanks for your help!

Helpful video! I tried wick watering a couple weeks ago and almost microscopic creatures appeared in the reservoir. They were white, clustered together, and seemed to jump. I could not find an answer as to what they were so I discontinued the wick watering. Can you help? Please
@HealthyHouseplants
@HealthyHouseplants 12 күн бұрын
@donnaedwards3766, It could be they are fungus gnat larvae. There are a couple of solutions. One is to add hydrogen peroxide to the water. If you have a half a cup of water in the reservoir, you would add 1 tablespoon of peroxide. The other solution is to use mosquito bits, which kill larvae in water. Once you get t rid of the infestation, you can remove the bits by changing the water. Generally, if you have fungus gnats you will see them flying around. They look like fruit flies. Yellow sticky traps also work to catch the adult fungus gnats so that they stop breeding. Even if the worms aren't fungus gnats, the mosquito bits should take care of them.

Hi! New sub here! I need some Ficus help! I recently got this beautiful plant. We’ve had her for about 2 weeks. I have lost 2 leaves so far, they turn brown then black then shrivel up. When we got her she was very wet. I have let her dry out and was going to water her today and fertilize. I’ve allowed 2 inches of top soil to dry. Hopefully this helps. We do live in Arizona so I have been misting morning noon and night as I have reptiles so I have a mister. I have her near an east facing window. I have a porch so natural no light touches directly into this window. She had a bud while in store and that is now about 4 inches in diameter. What could be causing some Leave to turn black ish brown then shrivel up? I have noticed small spots on the lower leaves and I don’t want to loose them. Any help would greatly appreciated!

Thank you. I just was given one of these plants and I’m still learning what to do to keep it alive. I’m sadly a known black thumb so when I accidentally rescued this one from near death the original owner gifted it to me. It’s grown three new leaves in the three weeks I’ve had it. It grew the first new one after the first watering I gave it. I don’t know how old it is. I know it’s a baby off one she’s had for a decade… it looks to be one third the age of its mother plant. I need to do more research to see how to get it to fruit and to see how long that should take with such a newer plant. Plus I need to figure out when I should transplant it because idk how long it’s been in this small medium pot 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣.

How to properly prune this plant. Came home after 1 week of vacation and found lots of the leaves on the floor and some branches were dry and dead so I had to clean it up a bit and water it. 3 days back and it already looks better but I’ve had it for a month and I want to fertilize it in the hopes that it will look even peppier. Please recommend natural food and fertilizer for this plant. Possibly send links of the ones you had in your video.

Excellent video. Very informative. The problem with my 6 rubber plants is all stopped unfurling all at once 😮. So, it seems like an environment change huh? They look perfectly healthy., and pots are getting lighter, which seems indicate water uptake. I'm using the same watering as always. I have fertilized them all. What is so weird is the fact that they all stopped unfurling at one time. Help !!!
