how does these compared to the pelican argo xr ? I know its cheaper but it got a camp seat .. why doesnt more kayaks got this ?
@sherpersinc
@sherpersinc 5 ай бұрын
Hi there! We currently don't carry the Pelican models, but can provide a little basic insight on the differences. The Argo is constructed via a blow mold versus the roto mold of the Pungo and Loon. This allows it to be produced faster and easier, allowing for the lower price point, but it won't be as strong as the roto mold kayaks, or have as much ability for changes in the hull design. The hull designs on the Pungo or Loon allow them to move much better in the water in addition to providing better stability. As for the seats, the Argo's seat appears to be able to come out fully which is a unique feature. That being said we haven't personally sat in one to know how it would feel on the water. We recommend stopping by a store to sit in the Pungo or the Loon seats, as they are some of the most comfortable available!

On the loon 106. What’s the heaviest person weight it can handle before moving up to 120.? Thanks
@sherpersinc
@sherpersinc 10 ай бұрын
On the Loon 106, there is a usable weight capacity of 272 lbs. That's the weight available for a person, gear, and pets. The Loon 120 can hold 321 lbs. Hope this helps!

@mjfollrd 10 ай бұрын
@@sherpersinc thanks for the reply. I’m interested to know the size of person for the loon 106 as the video said paddler over 200 pound go with 126 and under 200 go with 120 but no recommendations for 106. Thanks 🙏🏻
@sherpersinc
@sherpersinc 10 ай бұрын
@@mjfollrd Totally understand! If you take a peek at the chart in the first link in the description, it shows the dimensions and deck height for each model. The width is the same (31") on the 106 and 126, but the deck height is actually a little bit taller on the 106. This gives a little more room for someone in the 106 versus the 120, however, you will hit that usable weight limit quicker, so you'll want to consider that.

Hint: If putting the Malone Downloaders on Thule load bars, you’ll possibly need to order extra long bolts from Malone as Thule load bars are thicker than vehicle manufacturer installed bars. To put the Malone rack on the bar, you’ll install the rack onto the bar without the footpad because the rack’s hinge bolt heads stick out about 1/4” towards the center. Then you’ll install the footpad and short weather strip on the underside of the load bar and fasten the footpad onto your vehicle.

Dude, you are literally a life saver (and kayak saver)! I just installed a roof rack with these kayak racks 2 hours before leaving for a camping trip. We got 10 minutes down the road and it was pouring rain, I was going 20 mph on the highway with 30 mph gusts of wind coming directly at the car. It wasn’t long before the car and roof started to vibrate tremendously. We pulled over in the pouring rain and realized the kayaks had shifted and lifted off of the rack. We frantically started watching videos on KZfaq and came across this video. After watching your video I am happy to report the kayaks are as solid as a rock. We are on the road again safe and sound, thanks again for the awesome tutorial!!

Thanks for this video. Saw this review and then found a loon 120 in blue for 750 with a warner carbon paddle. Boat had only been in the water a couple of times. Best buy of the year for sure. Ive put about 40 hours on the boat already and im in love with it.

Between the Loon 126 or the Pungo 125, which one has the most vertical space for your feet. I am 6' 1", 210lbs with size 12 feet. I currently paddle a 2016 Pungo 120. I LOVE the way the boat paddles and it's a pretty good boat for my usage, but 1) The seat is not that comfy for me and 2) My feet are uncomfortably cramped vertically. So I am looking to get a bigger boat with more volume.
@sherpersinc
@sherpersinc Жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! The Loon 126 offers a deck height of 17.25, while the Pungo doesn't list an official deck height. Measuring is kind of difficult because of the angle of the boats, but we tried to measure how your foot would be resting while in the boat and measured 12" for Loon 126, and 11" for the Pungo 125. If you're not a fan of the seat, the Loon seat and the Pungo seats have many similarities. We have found many who prefer the Loon seat and some that prefer the Pungo, so not sure if that will provide a massive difference for longer paddles. You may also consider a sit on top style like the Old Town Salty, Perception Tribe, Ocean Kayak Malibu, or Old Town Bigwater. The Loon or Pungo move easier in the water, but if you can't get comfortable in those it won't matter. If you are near any of our stores, we gladly welcome you to stop in and sit in any of the boats! We also offer demo days where you can paddle them for free on a local lake near our Oconomowoc store to get a true feel for the boat prior to purchasing.

Hi Mark! The Loon Dashboard is not fitted to work with the Pungo. The hull and cockpit areas are slightly different shapes, and the Loon dashboard is shaped for the Loon specifically.

I had the Pungo 125, good boat but the Loon 126 is far superior for guys in the 250 lb range. I camp all the time and the Pungo was a one trip and gone experience. And I'm partial to Wilderness Systems boats, I have at least a dozen assorted Pungo's and Aspires for family and friends.

I always get confused on which way u have to feed tie straps at the metal buckle part....I noticed that u didn't tie down the front and rear of the kayak where the tie downs go over the engine and the trunk of (suv)car alot of people I see locally don't do it either wondering if really necessary
@sherpersinc
@sherpersinc 2 жыл бұрын
You can add in the ties to the hood or the rear of the car for extra stability on longer trips. If you aren't traveling for prolonged periods of time, using just the straps on the downloaders is plenty. It is always good to check them and tighten them periodically when you stop at a gas station, etc.

Front and rear tie-downs are absolutely necessary. If you slam on your brakes, the kayak can shift forward. The other reason is wind drag. While driving, your kayak is having to cut through the wind since it sits high and the wind grabs your kayak at your cockpit causing the straps to possibly loosen. A strong gust could take your kayak off your vehicle and hit another vehicle for which you would be at fault. I use a cockpit cover made specifically for my cockpit size to reduce drag and prevent the cockpit from filling with rain water during downpours and bad storms. When a kayak fills with water while on your vehicle, it can warp the kayak, make it harder to get your kayak down because of the extra weight (8lbs. per gal.), and can possible damage your roof.
