I remember when I passed my CBT, about a week later, still brand new to riding and I was at work, when my shift finished I walked out to see snow EVERYWHERE, I had to learn on the spot, took it slow and it wasn't too bad apart from the temperature, helps I had the roads to myself as I was taking it at about 18-20 up some 40s due to how bad the sludge was 😂

Good decision from the rider. This happened to me earlier this year but I was slightly ahead of the vehicle, van went past all his exits, ignoring the lane markings and took me out as I was exiting. Even though I was in the right and the van driver is facing prosecution, due to me not riding defensively it's cost me my bike, a broken leg and a broken back.

Can you tell me where lane filtering is defined in the UK legislation? Filtering is mentioned a few times in the Highway Code, but it is not defined. To me it seems that the UK legislation allows filtering in some circumstances but doesn't define it. Filtering is not defined in my country either but it's very clear what is allowed and what is not.
@RoadcraftNottingham
@RoadcraftNottingham 3 күн бұрын
It's legal but could be a problem if the police consider what you're doing dangerous, then it's an offence. That's probably why it's not defined, because of all the variables.

Speed limits have nothing to do with it, your limit is your current view. "Make sure you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear on your side of the road" I've broken speed limits but never the view rule.

I did this once, outside my parents' house on my old 125. Parked up, turned off ignition, thought "ok, now I can relax", forgetting the side stand wasn't down yet. Only realised when I'd leaned too far and was falling. You only make that mistake once.

Im from Iowa, in the USA. Honestly? This is good advice for any winter driving. This is also how you keep your car on the road And yeah, ABS does you no good in snow…i currently dont have it (i myself have never driven with working traction or ABS, but mom has). It just…idk, doesnt really stop you from sliding. Keep under 35 i town, youll be able to stop at any lights no problem. Now, getting up a hilly driveway? I almost side swiped the dumpster. Almost…i was proud of how well i handled that slide at 16. The ONLY way to get up it is to gun the engine and hope for the best, because you will not have traction once youre 1/4 of the way up

When I was learning I struggled to fit in the mirrors, signal, move position in lane for Right Hand Turn, check oncoming traffic, check mirrors, then life saver (over shoulder look behind to make sure no vehicles are overtaking), doing all of that just to turn right. But giving myself more time by starting the process earlier meant i could fit it all in. And I remember the instructor saying "look ahead, look further ahead. Then look even further ahead." That really helped me to plan ahead, which actually makes faster riding much easier to do. I've watched several of your videos and i like your style of teaching. You are direct but also mindful of being too harsh, of being unnecessarily critical, you're trying to build confidence while also correcting. It's good.

Agree or disagree. But as far as I'm concerned, bike tests these days are just a money-making scam. When I was younger, you took your test on the road with one guy standing and watching you. and it must have taken half an hour. All this crap now is just to con people out of a lot of money, and I don't like being conned. I haven't passed my test, but I was riding a 250-cc for years and never had any accidents. It may be important if you intend to ride a high-powered bike but not a 250-cc There is nothing they could teach me that would make me ride any better. I'm sure it would be easier and less hassle to get your pilots license. I only wish I had taken my test before they brought all this bullsh*t in.

rider modes later the throttle respone-that's what it is supposed to do. You obviously don't know how to ride a shaft drive motorcycle. You can't change gear like a chain drive because you don't have the same amount of freeplay. Down shift you have to blip the throttle, Up shift you have to time your gear change with the revs-can't be too low in the revs or too high. Idle should be about 1,800 rpm. Cruise control is telling you that it's still engaged-that's why it's flashing so that you can see it. You're obviously only used to rubbish japanese bikes & you don't recognise a great bike if it run over you. Yes it is called character & personality.

Where I live we have many beautiful small twisty roads through our woods. We often come across gravel from driveways or dirt roads. Crossing deer and cars reversing out from properties are also common. Safe motorcycle speed is significantly below the 50 MPH speed limit. A big problem is tailgating local cars.

Is it ok to alwayss get many gears in a row without letting clutch out, i get in first gear high speed & then clutch in & keeping in & get 4 or 5 gears & then let clutch out & downshift same way
@RoadcraftNottingham
@RoadcraftNottingham 17 күн бұрын
To want to change that many gears in one go, you'll have to be ragging the bike, not the behaviour of a competent rider. It can be done, of course but not desirable or really required. A couple of gears, no problem.

@@RoadcraftNottingham i don't understand the reason why one has to release the clutch in betweens rather then get to 40km/h on 1st gear & then upshift till 4th gear & then release the clutch. The rev will match & also less fuel since you are getting higher gears in.

The tick over is set high to stop some of the vibration even though it now has a balancer shaft that doesn't kick in until 1500 revs so if tick over is set lower the vibration would be similar to a Harley

Might be a really silly question. I cannot seem to get the full lock on without feeling like the bike is about to tip over. I aim for about 10-12 MPH (at least it feels that fast as I am looking at where I want to be) but I always need to put my foot down. I'm quite inconsistent with my U turns in a road. No biker i have seen filters like that ... Thats the sanitised should be ideal. What lane are you in ? Reality is a swirling fast in out which results in something coming at you at a rate of knots way to fast relying on me not to hit them . Not a negative but what i see.
