love you car man! but it seemed like it was struggling a bit is there too much turbo lag? what's your diff ratio?
@turbotoyzrus62868 күн бұрын
You're a keen observer; thank you for your comment & support. There were a few things preventing the aggressive boost from coming in on time; one of those issues was with the Greddy boost controller which proved a bit challenging for me to tune off the dyno. I eventually implemented a different boost controller directly to the stand alone ecu which allows boost to be configured more efficiently. It rips. The diff gear ratio will also change when I install the shortened 1998 Ford Explorer 8.8, allowing for more strength & better performance. It's currently running the stock ae86 gts lsd rear-end.

@@turbotoyzrus6286 just wondering given the many other platforms usually used in ae86 swaps that work as well too but are more modern and advanced than the 2rz. Also on the same RZ platform you have your 3rz that’s square and possibly more rev happy and powerful. Not saying 2rz is wrong choice. Just pure curiosity

How many bolts on the firewall shield? And what tools did you use to get them out?
@turbotoyzrus62862 ай бұрын
I really don't remember how many bolts hold the heat shield, but if I had to guess I would say 4. 2 10mm to sides & 2 to the back. Finesse is definitely required to get the shield out; I couldn't video everything because needed both hands. The shield is sharp so be careful; maneuver the wires & hoses out of the way then gently guide it up.

These car makers insist in making plastic parts on everything
@turbotoyzrus62864 ай бұрын
Yes unfortunately; manufacturers decide that job security for dealerships & the parts industry is more essential than quality products for consumers. This is how we use physics now to maximize profits; as soon as many things are out of warranty, failure occurs. Easily this problem would not exist if the part was metal.

Mine just burst today , how did you get to the plastic piece that connects to back of engine ?
@turbotoyzrus62864 ай бұрын
Take the heat shield out entirely after disconnecting the two pieces; take out the retainer clip and use a little lubricant to soften the rubber seal through the retainer groove, then wiggle and pull gently. Good luck on it, use a magnet to help remove the retainer clip so you don’t drop it. Watch the whole video so you don’t miss anything.👍🏾

When you added the subframe spacers did you have to correct the bump steer? Or because you lowered the entire front subframe including the steering rack it is not needed?
@turbotoyzrus62865 ай бұрын
I simultaneously installed the subframe spacers, T3 knuckles, RCA, rod ends with adjustable mounting setup for everything to come together right. So it's tricky to say how bump steer would have worked out without the additional components; but if I had to guess it would fall right into place if not very close due the spacers alone. My T3 big brake and suspension video may give some insight on the way everything works now.
