It does not make sense that a political entity with the ability to regularly perform interstellar travel will discover a non-spacefaring Earth, but then be impressed with our tech, manufacturing capability, etc. relative to their own. Also, I really wish people would learn the difference between the terms "army" and "military." The navy isn't the army. The air force isn't the army. The coast guard isn't the army. The marines are not the army. The army is the army. All of these branches, including the army, combine to make up the military. Calling it all "the army" is like refering to every part of a political system as "the judiciary." You don't call legislators, administrators, and beaurocrats "judges" or all part of the judiciary do you? No, be cause the governmental system has different branches that make it up. So, do not refer to the navy as part of the army. They are both parts of the military. "Military" or "armed forces" are the general umbrella terms.

If anyone has any inkling of how hard it must be to translate human speech, it is not just the words, not just the dictionary raw translation, but the cultural inflections.
