But no one has ever really explained how they get to the "self-aware" stage, even with an intelligent designer of the AI, as Stephen mentions here. Remember, banks may have a lot of money, but not an infinite supply. One should also remember that the bulk of the money bank's loan out are not their own, but the money of their depositors, the bulk of whom are middle class, blue collar folks struggling just as much as anyone. Is it right for them to suffer to help ease Greece's pain? As much as anyone might want to help Greece out, Greece must fix it's broken political system, or loaning them more money is at best a delaying tactic from inevitable collapse.

I just listened to mister Fry read this book. Best thing I have ever heard. The myths are about us! Our strengths and weaknesses wound up in wonderful tales. Fry is like a mixture of Oscar Wilde & Winnie-the-Pooh. I wish I was as smart, as kind, as wise and as articulate as he is.
