And he thinks we can handle that future any better than we've handled the past? Even the most intelligent people, such as Hawkins, realize we're balanced on the edge of a sword.

A passion for expression is so common but it has weak legs imo. I think expression comes from an emotion that meets a want then is translated into art. I struggle with playing instruments to cover songs alot I never get it on first take even though i know the song by memory its like my fingers never are in tune with each other but when Im drunk my fingers play more easily😅

I remember seeing Ridley Scott talking about artificial intelligence. It obviously fascinates him as well. But no one has ever really explained how they get to the "self-aware" stage, even with an intelligent designer of the AI, as Stephen mentions here. This is a really good thing to do in a book, keeping the classics alive. I am really happy that Stephen failed in his attempt to take his own life.

Certainly a nice gesture. And it is true the ancient Greeks made a great contribution to modern society, or at least Athens did. ;-) But modern Greece's debt has everything to do with their borrowing ever greater amounts of money to fund ever expanding social welfare programs that directly led to their own loss of productivity to pay the debt back, causing them to need to borrow more money just to make payments on the debt. Remember, banks may have a lot of money, but not an infinite supply. One should also remember that the bulk of the money bank's loan out are not their own, but the money of their depositors, the bulk of whom are middle class, blue collar folks struggling just as much as anyone. Is it right for them to suffer to help ease Greece's pain? As much as anyone might want to help Greece out, Greece must fix it's broken political system, or loaning them more money is at best a delaying tactic from inevitable collapse.

All which you say , theoreticly is right. But . When Greek borrows lets say 100 milions , only 20 gets to people or goverment to built or invest in the country. The rest are taken from politicians and they dissapear afterwards leaving the ccountry in big dept . This all started with us entering Europe and forcing us to leave our homeland agricolture , car manufacture , car part companies , truck factory , clothes and buy from europe which takes from China . So we dont own anymore our economy , ports , airporst , trains are own by europe , they filled us with illegal immigrands ,(which politicians got paid to keep) in islands were they brought them tourism dropped drasticaly , criminality grew up and here we are now . So its not that easy my friend . This plan was getting started from 1990 already , and is almost complete .

No, she's even more beautiful. Back then, her front teeth were slightly prominent, and her face, though lovely, was still that of a beautiful child. At the time of this video, Dec 2017, she had grown into a stunning young woman of 27. I haven't seen her acting in anything recently (she's probably too busy being mother to two small children), but I've seen a selfie she took in what looks like a dance studio: it seems she's lost quite a bit of weight, so really quite thin, but still looks happy, healthy and radiant.

I'm afraid that robots will prove to be unintelligent design. Anything that the wealthy can use to their benefit will be corrupt. I mean to say, war is evil but over and over, the power brokers of extreme wealth have sponsored wars because they see an opportunity to "make" more wealth.

That is quite a claim, he states there is no inteligence behind the Universe yet he has only experienced a very small part of the vast history and scope of all things. Maybe we should just take Stephens truth claims for what they are; a confirmed atheists and comedians personal opinion. Einstein on the other hand was more careful in his considerations, rather suspecting that there had to be some inteligent source for origins of our finely tuned Universe.

@@kingy002 thanks, I would suggest you believe in Universes that arrive from nothing; that the complex laws and constants of our universe are luck; that matter and energy produced information; that the first living cell assembled itself; that nothing exists outside of what you can test and see; that's you have discovered all the dimensions that are out there; that it's not possible that our universe can be penetrated by an outside inteligence; that your life is ultimately meaningless. Stephen Hawking believed in other dimensions with the possibility of inteligent beings, are you saying you rule out the possibility they could penetrate our universe?

@@kingy002 Have you ever lived the holy life? If not, you have not walked the path I have! I have been a "want to be" atheist for most of my life, I know the story. It's like your favourite football team, I was a diehard in my support of my homies, we atheists united. There was rarely a day where I sought to check the other team out, that would be like treason! I eventually changed and sought the truth, my old life was becoming empty, void of meaning and power to keep the facade going. There is whole other world going on which most are unaware or will ever see. When people talk of a light coming into their lives, they really mean that brother.

I just listened to mister Fry read this book. Best thing I have ever heard. The myths are about us! Our strengths and weaknesses wound up in wonderful tales. Fry is like a mixture of Oscar Wilde & Winnie-the-Pooh. I wish I was as smart, as kind, as wise and as articulate as he is.
