Born in UK in 59. A kid through the 60s. Teenager through the 70s. There was so many things wrong in the 60s and 70s..... Power cuts, fuel shortages, 3 day week, etc etc....... But if I could re-live those days I'd grab them with both hands and leave today's shit behind!! The music was the best from both decades, especially Glam Rock!. Kids were out all day, bike rides, camp building, fishing and just about every other outdoor activity you could think of! I remember school mornings, my mum had Terry Wogan in the radio, and Sunday evenings it was the top 20 with Tom Browne, I think every teenager in the land had the radio on for that! And of course Thursdays was Top of the pops! Comedy was allowed and no one was offended. The likely lads. Bless this house. On the buses. Love thy neighbour. Steptoe and son. Till death us do part...... not one person was offended! And the best thing of all...... England was England!

The seventies went by in a flash of low resolution video but at least it was better than the fifties and sixties in 405 lines and black and white. Who nowadays would admit to Muffin the Mule other than Huw Edwards?

At the end of that time the Islamic revolution occurred in Iran. It was something unexpected and sad at the same time. What happened to Iran at the end of that era, they lived happily with Westernization and freedom without imagining that in the 80s the darkness that prevails to this day would begin. days in that Middle Eastern country the Persian culture is ancient, I don't know how they thought of making that religious revolution if they were advancing as a society.

AAAAAAAAAH, the 60s' and 70s' were undoubtedly the BEST decades to grow up in, despite the power-cuts in the early 70s' , we didn't have much as a generation, but we made the BEST of what we had and had a bloody good time doing it. The only limits we had were our own imaginations. Who here remembers 'Watch out, watch out, there's a Humphrey about'???? Here is a weird thought for you all......... Anyone born in 1933, would have been 45 in 1978!!!!!!! 33, 45, 78...........remember gramophones?

Lots of people will think about the 2020s in just the same way in another 50 years. "Remember sliders? Remember broccoli hair? Remember Doja Cat? Remember early ChatGPT? Remember when Roblox was big?" Sounds ridiculous now but I bet the idea of people being nostalgic for Smash adverts would have seemed a pretty silly idea back then too.

I was 7 years old in 1970 and had major brain surgery in June of this year. Today in May 2024 i am 61 years old and i remember many of the shows on this video. We had great TV in the 1970s even though we only had 3 channels Television was so much better and the quality of the programmes back then better than the rubbish we endure today.

No ADHD, no mobile phones, no internet, no gender fluidity or transgender. No LGBTQ, no Macdonalds, Burger King or Kentucy Fried Chicken. No reality TV, no Simon Cowell or Ant & Dec. No Katie Price, or Love Island, Big Brother, Britains Got Talent, or other crap TV. Only three TV channels which ended late at night and started in the morning. No DVDs, VHS, CDS, streaming or earbuds. No CCTV on every corner. No cannabis farms in every street. No mobility carts or electric bikes and scooters. Respect was given to the emergency services, teachers, parents and people in authority. Discipline was harsher, but you knew if you'd crossed the line, you made sure you didn't do it again! Playing out until dark, pop bottles you got money back for returning them. Ring pulls and tab ends in the gutters, white dog poo! No vapes! No cash machines. Banks and shops on the high street. No out of town shopping centres. No B&Q or Wickes. No supermarkets. Proper newspapers, doorstep milk, proper butter, then Margerine. No pubs or shops open on a Sunday. Half day closing, usually on a Wednesday afternoon. NME, Sounds, comics that weren't PC. Proper seasons. Washing cars on a Sunday, quiet streets with space you could play in. One car families, if you were lucky. Proper gardens, not paved, gravelled or tarmacadamed over to fit three or four cars in. No UPVC double glazing. Condensation on the windows or ice in the winter. The smell of gloss paint or creosote in the summer. No designer this or that. Dr Marten boots, wedge shoes or brogues. No trainers, joggers or Crocs. I could go on, but you get the drift.
