I normally don’t watch disc golf video that has too much chatting instead of throwing, but this is an exemption. One of the best videos ever that I’ve watch and great to learn more about our favorite players’ personalities/character and disc golf thru the eyes of the G.O.A.T.

I've only ever bought and thrown Innova, but one of the best things about disc golf is the camaraderie and support for each other and from each other. I've learned more from Paul than any other player, just watching how he plays, how he carries himself, and when he speaks, we listen. Keys that really unlocked my game, and are still helping improve.

Drew, this format is very unique. Like a podcast while throwing discs.. I can put it on in the background and enjoy it once, then later go back and watch your throws.. kinda cool.

Unfortunately it's difficult for guys in their thirties with lives, to compete with young guys that are 95% disc golf.
@jacksonyang869921 сағат бұрын
Yea now days its all about distance which singles out a certain group of people. Majority of individuals with a wide age gap cannot throw far as the big bombers BUT what’s missing is that the media is really missing out on the ACTUAL talent of throwing the disc like it is supposed to fly. I am not young anymore like tour players these days BUT I wish more courses for the tour would be more technical with man made or natural shapes instead of ob lines in the open. OB lines to me are like ooooops sorry good throw but you are out…which makes everyone feel like wtf for an awesome throw. You should not punish someone for a phenomenal throw with a random line especially in the open 🤦♂️. Anyway what do I know. Realistically in the woods or a technical shape forming course…that is what makes a great player throwing “the” disc for what it is meant for and what an individual is actually skilled at…..not for just distance cause distance immediately eliminates alot of potential great players that no one knows about. 🤷♂️🤷♂️ what do I know, just saying in my opinion.

I really appreciate this. I’m new to dg (about a year) and mostly self-taught, so my form is garbage and inconsistent. I just realized watching your video that most of it was because of my feet. I’ve got a basket in my back yard about 200’ away, and I went outside after watching this video to practice throwing putters. I’ve only “aced” the basket twice in the 3-4 months that I’ve had it out there, but I just did it 3 times in about 20 minutes. Thank you!

"We've lost the touch of the game". Crazy to hear from Paul, who has been around a long time. Cole Redalan, a new kid on tour, said almost the exact same thing during the Jomez practice round.

Dude great interview with Paul. I’m a person who chose software development as my career path but I always think about how I’d like to flip the script, buy a van and go on tour. Could you please make a video detailing how you made that leap of faith/how you not only survive but thrive on tour as a nomad. I think it’s amazing and I want that life lol. Being good at disc golf helps I’m sure 😂

24:55 Mids/Putters have the prettiest flights. Every course needs to have a more wooded section of holes that require low skips, dead straight lines, and floaty approaches. If they're worried about the course having enough room for spectators, you can still achieve this on wide open courses by utilizing a single tree right off the pad to keep the ceiling low. And/or a combination of triple mandos and danger by the basket. I think idealy, at least 1/3 of the holes should be tailored for midsrange discs.

I think the discussion about sponsorships is interesting, getting businesses to sponsor isn't always about sales, it can also be a pride/involvement thing. Leaning into people in power that are disc golfers is totally worth it.

The humble GOAT!
@jannejaakkola5836Күн бұрын
Disc golf is just so lucky to have Paul, in so many ways. I think the GOAT "debate" was valid in 2018, but today, nah it's game over. Paul's the goat. As a fin, I can really appreciate a guy that prefers to work on his craft and when he speaks you listen because he's not just jabbering. Just so relatable, except for the otherworldly skills ofc. Also, great job Drew on these recent interview rounds. I never figured I could listen to a round of disc golf an be entertained. Really interesting topics, questions and guests so far.

YES!!! Finaly someone who agree. You can't be the "GOAT" until you have finished your career!
@ToddsDiscGolfКүн бұрын
I don’t think about career accomplishments and accolades, or what you’ve done for the sport, as holding much weight as far as GOAT criteria go. If you take the peak version of someone, when they are in their absolute prime, and match them up against anyone else’s prime, the GOAT is whoever walks away the winner. If prime Paul plays prime Ken, Paul wins every time. Paul was playing harder courses, against better competition, using a better set of skills than Ken. Paul is the GOAT.

Great video While I am a newbie, introducing in the last twelve months, I agree with Paul’s assessment on the game getting longer. It would be good to see some competitions that take on turnovers and midrange.

Terrific interview with Paul, Drew. I liked it a lot. Thank you kindly. I'm with Paul on this: Ken Climo is the GOAT. So far as I know, no person in the history of sports had EVER won 9 world titles back to back. Ken has 12 overall world titles in total, and I think he has some 6 (six!) Masters World titles as well. And he did it entirely without an X-Step. It is truly a shame that we don't see more of The Champ in the disc golf scene. I'm with Paul of that count, too! Ken is an huge part of the rich history of disc golf, and our sport is poorer for his absence. BRING BACK THE CHAMP! (Chant it with me.)

GOAT is hard to determine. Climo could arguably have had easier competitors, at least fewer competitors during his hay day. Now that the sport continues to grow competitors continue to push envelope.

The defending champ idea is so silly. I hate it. Also, no sugar (or low sugar) for a week vs a month and beyond is a big difference. Should try doing the same with carbs or gluten. Anything inflammatory. Even if you ‘don’t notice it’, it affects you.
