The player vs character skill concept enabled by VATs was a great idea. Personally I prefer the game to pause rather than slow down. It made FO3 the perfect 3D adaptation of the earlier games.

It's 2024 and Fallout 3 is still amazing to play. What happened to Bethesda? Most of their games suck now. The woke culture destroyed everything it touched.

I wouldn't say woke has destroyed Bethesda, but I do see where you're coming from. I would say that it's laziness and neglectfulness is killing Bethesda. Ever since Skyrim and the introduction of mods, Bethesda has been showing less passion in each of their projects because they know there are people who will always make a better products than them(Fallout London to name one) and who will fix any bugs(The Unofficial Patch), which will keep players playing their product.

I know that many classic Fallout fans and RPG purists hate Bethesda for how it handles the franchise, but I think that the development team doesn't have enough credit for managing to transfer the franchise to 3D in a solid way, even if it is using Oblivion as a model. Additionally, because of Bethesda, Obsidian had the opportunity to create Fallout New Vegas, despite the 18-month limit.
