Sell your intel mobo, buy a amd mobo drop in a new 9000 cpu out in the next few weeks. It will out perform intel most of the time in productivity, cost the same or less, have a longer lifespan for future upgrades on the socket, and best of all you won’t have to worry about 300w cooking your cpu or crashes.🫡✌️

Interesting experience eh. When I started using TrueNAS a few years ago, I had failures with many consumer non-NAS drives. These days I only use CMR Drives that are designed for NAS use, I now have perhaps a failed drive every few years. I have around 20 HDD's ranging from 4 to 14TB, but only have 4 spinning 24/7.

I'm wallet team. Bur not gonna lie. I've been using a 3950x and I like how optimized the energy consumption it has. I no longer use it cause I gave it to my bro. I was keeping an eye to the intel i9 while waiting for the 9950x from AMD. It still uses less energy than their intel counterpart. It's sad to see how intel F this time. I think I'll go with AMD next year. The downside of AMD is the bugs with bios and ram issues and usually random bugs with windows. Is what I experienced with my 3950x till It got stable after about half a year or a bit more. So, having to deal with those things on AMD. Kinda bugs me a bit but it does seem nothing to what intel has right now. Difficult times to buy a processor now. 7000 AMD series is just red flag atm

Just bought the Corsair QHD 32 inch 1440p monitor to help alleviate the bottlenecking if there is any. been building PC's for over 20 years, but took a 5 year break. so I'm a little ignorant to the newer stuff. The moment a polished up enough version of Android x86, x64 shows up, equipped with things like Wine, Proton, etc out of the box, to let me run the software I actually want to run, not that ugly, limited caveman crap off Linux repositories, it's goodbye Microsuck once and for all! Enough of the abuse. Make it immutable, with the option of preserving your Windows program files directories, maybe even exe program settings too, and the sky's the limit! We gotta wait for such an Android PC, cause standard Linux PC developers are never gonna get this fixed, if they haven't throughout decades already. Their heads are screwed on backwards. Maybe they're geniuses, but they're like Rainman. They don't recognize the obvious.

Linux is great for servers, but as a desktop OS for the average Sally or Bill (for whom something like Excel is enough of a pain in the ass), it's just a cool concept, at most. Nobody's gonna be searching all over the internet for command lines to copy and paste in the Linux terminal, with their fingers crossed they don't screw things up even more, to fix problems that on every other system you fix in a matter of a few button clicks. It's just geek autism that this isn't a problem, and everything's the fault of everyone else, from Adobe and Nvidia, to the common user for being too stupid. Google proved with Android a user-friendly Linux is not only possible, but extremely profitable, yet to Linux PC distro developers and fan boys, it's always everyone else's fault nobody wants to use Linux. Nobody wants to use Linux, cause the shit is literally being gate kept through completely retarded complications.

Currently using i9-12900k. I had to RMA my older i9-9900k because memory kit XMP overclocked and broke the memory controller. CPU specs said 2900 and kit was 3200. Abotu 1-2 months it started to do BSOD and next month it didn't boot to windows. Dropped to jedec and it worked only 1-2 more months then I started RMA. First they tried to push that it was MB but I asked my brother to buy i3 for testing and it worked. That was enough to rule it was broken CPU. After I received chip from RMA then I used that 2900 for memory. I also used that cheap i3 when i9 was on RMA trip so I can use my main rig and do other stuff with my computer and I had to play only light games. Can't remember how many weeks it was. I donated this set to my niece when I updated to i9-12900k and she is still using it without problems. Note: Basically over volt damage shorten chip lifespan. Also reminder that ESD may cause "hidden damage" that start to show after months. First it is little more current consumption and then it start to fail. Remember one business owner that build computers and he get lots of warranty repairs after 6-8 months and almost always broken cpu. After improving ESD safety those warranty cases almost ended.

The engineers at Intel had a CEO problem. The CEO would not invest a competitive fab process. To get Intel’s fab process to work at higher frequencies for their performance cores, they would allow a short time boost and a thermal velocity boost. These “boosts” frequencies were limited by a 100 C temperature limit. However there is a delay in sensing the temperature. Repeated exposure these delays leads to thermal damage (migration). There was a significant boost in performance between the 12 and 13 gen high end Intel CPUs because of a more aggressive implementation of this strategy. Gamers would be likely to use thermal velocity boost more often and with great benefit because of the interment loading during game play. The thermal velocity boost kills the CPU and because almost everyone uses the extreme memory profile (XMP) Intel won’t give out new CPUs. I can report my experience with a sample size of two 13900k CPUs systems that I built for an AI programmer to be used to test code for AI learning and inference. The code was initially tested using the CPU, while the test using large data bases used 4090 GPUs. Both systems used 2 sticks of 32GB 6400 MHz ram running at 6000 MHz. Two computers were used for reliability so that a failure of one would only cause a delay of a few hours. The thermal solution was tested using Cinebench R23 for the CPU and Furmark on the GPU. The goal was to get the highest Cinebench score while maintaining a CPU temperature in the low 80s C. This would allow higher ambient temperatures and dust accumulation. The Cinebench R23 multi score just over 38,000. Then short time and thermal velocity boosts were disabled. Again frequencies were adjusted to maximize Cinebench scores. These result were guarded by current and power maximums. The CPU’s package temperature was 82 C with a Cinebench R23 multi score just over 40,000.

This garbage has been going on since Pentium 4 and GeForce FX. People just want to buy name brand regardless if that choice is intelligent, and now that is having consequences with bad chips and lack of vram. Not my problem, but this is no longer funny. PCMR also started as a joke, then people took it serious like they are some master race with all the behavior associated with that. At this point, I think the sane people need to stop being silent and tell the fanboys their toxic behavior is hurting the entire ecosystem, not just themselves. I think AMD makes fine products, but the AMD fanboys also covered for AMD not releasing BIOS updates for Zen3 x300 am4 and lying about it even after AMD back-pedaled. Then AMD sold x570 with sleeve bearing chipset fans, and had USB issues. Seriously, everyone needs to stop covering for this nonsense. Lisa Su even made a statement thanking fanboys for covering it up, generally speaking. Plus there was the whole massively price gouged motherboard prices, then motherboards removed SATA ports and PCIe slots as well. My old x370 had more functionality than any modern board, and now ASRock makes the best price/$ hardware, while Asus makes overpriced defective garbage. How did Asus get there? Customers let them. Customers let all of this happen because they buy on name recognition over quality and pretend they made a smart decision. No, you are supposed to read reviews before buying, and there is no trophy for buying a brand name outside of a dunce cap. Everyone blindly buying a name brand is an idiot, moreso if the price is gouged. It's not a flex, nobody should be flexing any purchase of overpriced garbage, that's cringe stupidity flexing, and the companies screw you because they know and you deserve it. Stop being a sucker, and companies will stop treating you like a sucker.

My biggest question is will the microcode update in august fix the degradation issue or will it just blunt it? I'm looking to upgrade my old workhorse from 2015 which uses a 4790k during the end of this year. I was seriously looking at the i7 14700KF as my replacement until this bomb shell happened. If the micro code fixes the degradation problem completely and stop the bsod and crashes I might still go with 14700KF because i really want that 20 cores since I do solid-works simulation a lot besides gaming. But if it just blunts the problem and the raptor lake is still just perpetually degrades I think I will just get the Ryzen 7900x3d. Sucks that it's only 12 cores but at least it's stable.
