This faulty start actually caused my Bobber60 odometer reset to ZERO so be careful. When I told my service mechanic I was told this is a common occurence.

Oh. thought it was just me. What I do. When I have a cold start after time, it wont engage, just quickly cycle prime bid red one on and off and trigger it second time with some twist. Booms to life.

Thank you for the useful information. I am experiencing a similar issue with my Scout Sixty. I plan on replacing the battery with one that has higher CCA and also changing the oil to a lower viscosity, such as 10w60. The OEM oil is too thick, similar to honey in cold weather.

You really need to get one of those low height contained oil pans for cruisers (even seeing you no longer have this bike, I use it for cars equally as much). Amazon sells them and they make jobs like this significantly easier for draining and also recycling.

How has the bike been since the tune?
@nj7634
@nj7634 6 ай бұрын
Good! The upmap I don’t think is the best option out there for “remote tuning” I think something like a Bren tune would be ideal. The bike rides a little weird when it’s not up 100% to temp. The tune smoothed out the cold starts and over all performance but I still think it has much more potential with a better tune. The upmap is a great budget tuner

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. I bought a brand new Scout and I don’t know it dosen’t star in below 30 weather and was really sad. It’s 50 degree here now. I’m going to start it, hopefully i do not have to prime it.

I had LAF pipes on my Nightster. The loudest pipes i ever heard. Scared the crap out of people when I would start the bike up. At night, you could see flames shot out of them. Bypassed the pesky O2 sensors. Never had any problems with the bike. Probably why my hearing is shot now. Super obnoxious, but a lot of fun.

I developed that exact problem after installing aftermarket slip ons on my 2017 scout. I’ve been priming it like you and I’m thinking of tuning it before I wear out my starter. Btw I’m in So.California and it does this all year long…

I'm a bit late to the party but, the battery in my 2016 died in late autumn a few months from being brand new, the OEM batteries are junk to start with, great tip with the priming and I'll bear this in mind, I live in Northern UK so will definitly be using this trick.

We Italians teach you how to be in the world....😉.... our motorbikes are not for the incompetent.... the oil in the auction cannot be seen because if you had read the use and maintenance booklet, you would discover that you have to first let the bike warm up and then check.... you're a Harley guy... buy that ✌🏻 ❤ 🇮🇹

This is a common problem on Scouts. The starter is not turning over fast enough to start the bike. I can hear that. The stock battery in some Scouts is a made in China piece of garbage guaranteed to fail within a year at the most. Likewise the starter in some Scouts is a made in India piece of garbage with a similar lifespan. Change them both. Use a Yuasa battery and an Arrowhead starter and you'll be golden for years.

We have both rode each others bikes various times and we each prefer the bike we have. I don't think you could go wrong with either one! Both are extremely fast, fun, and enjoyable bikes. My recommendation is if you have the ability to at least sit on both bikes back to back and, even better test ride them if your dealer allows and see what one you enjoy the most!

My previous bikes didn't have that issue at all. 3 times cheaper Yamahas and Honda's never stalled on cold start. From that video I consider myself lucky. ISB 20 2020 starts in 3-4 go 8n below freezing point conditions. However I must challenge you on this one. It's only after a night meaning on first go this happens. Then I go somewhere, leave the bike for like 2h. Then it starts beautifuly the first attempt. And its even colder as its outside, not the garage. I also found that it's better on E5 than E10 (euro fuel) meaning 99oct vs 95oct. Thanks for this video. I now know I'm not alone. I'll try to get it tuned as I did change exhaust as well. Will let you know if that helped
