Also, how does it compare to the AnyTone 878UVii Plus ? We’d like to issue individual portable radios to our volunteer firefighters to keep as “personal radios”. Currently, they can grab one of 6 Hytera PD782 UHF Analog/DMR portables kept at headquarters or one of the 4 kept in each piece of apparatus. The AnyTone seems like a good handheld and has most of the features we require, including 2-tone sequential paging decoding. The downsides are - the AnyTone doesn’t appear to be very rugged and does not have MDC1200 (or equivalent) signaling for radio identification. Thank you!

The radio in the video has a very goofy programming structure. Any of the any tone radios would be far better choice. I have used it on repeaters.It's fine.

Any tone can be easily edited from the keypad. But of course, new firmware does come out occasionally For the radio in the video, but they are few and far between. There is no comparison. Regards chris

I have the same setup apart from the tuner requires 8-10watt to drive it. The 705 due to high SQL will not transmit over 5watt with external power so cant get the tuner to tune as the AMP alarm kicks in. How did you get around this issue
@digitalanaloguehamradio
@digitalanaloguehamradio 6 күн бұрын
I did nothing special. I had the hardware connected up as you Normally would. It was such a While ago I can't remember the exact details. I was just using patch leads No special cables. But there were odd occasions when the set up would not power the amp. I think I just got it lucky.

The atu Requires 5w to function. And the radio barley produces 5w. Like I said, I think I was just lucky. There were several times the combination would not kick in.

Nice little coil & cool video Chris… I’m curious how the steel bands don’t short out the coils they cross and change the characteristics? Maybe if you tune each one with the others fitted the characteristics don’t change…. I wonder if you added another tuning band would you have to retune all the others? Not sure if I’m explaining my query correctly! 😅

Hi, mate.Excellent question.And you worded it fine. I did notice that once I had got one tuned.And marked with Tipex, I moved that one down and put the middle collar On the original tippax mark, and it was way out. So I think you might be correct. Ask marty he's in the comment somewhere.

I love Mine. I use it in my small garden with excellent results. It is raised 3 feet above my lawn on a spike with 3 shock cord guys. The radials are therefore sloping. Tuning is easy replicated by measuring from the top of the slider to the top winding with a steel rule. Then I record the measurement and can set it for each band with ease.

I've had an ID-52 USA model for 18 months. Perhaps they have changed from your preview model, but the battery life is fine - normally about 8 + hours real usage. It is much improved by not having the GPS running continuously - best is to get your GPS lock and then save it, and turn the GPS off. M one is used with a White Background and Dark letters and I find it very readable with he backlight on. It can be set to indicate the battery voltage for a second or two when you power on. The speaker is excellent and loud. Overall a very nice radio with lots of adjustments, but quite pricey. The advanced manual is needed, but only comes as a PDF
