The greatest exhibition of the sport I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Nalbandian was possessed by The God of tennis this day. Bravo Maestro

Also, Tillstrom is 3 years older than Rios but looks quite a bit younger in this match. Jetlag perhaps?

I was very young but I remember both these guys. Edberg was a Super Star with his great Net Game while Aaron was a local kid and one of the few Jewish athletes in the Sports history. Aaron also had one of the best forehands on his generation. Edberg had a superb backhand too

@martenmaertens12346 ай бұрын

Rafter’s kick serve allowed him a lot of easy points while maintaining a high first-serve percentage. Henman didn’t really have anything comparable.

If Edberg had an off night (or day) from the baseline and with some loose volleys, he could lose matches he had no business losing. When he was airtight, he was almost unbeatable. That said, Krickstein took advantage of it and played really well, especially handling the wind nicely.

I have just noticed that Edberg slightly changed his service motion at any point in time between 1987 and 1988. Compare this to his service motion at his semfinal 1987 against Wilander. His feet stood not as close to each other and he bent his knees even more than here, etc.
