Well the price of Gen1 is very attractive as are the lease deals. I think it depends on what is important to you. The big changes in Gen2 are the ride less noisy and less harsh (not by a huge amount though), you get more advanced driver assist (with software updates and there will be a subscription fee), Max pack gives you a bit more range, dual motor is slightly more efficient. One has to decide if those newer features are worth the extra cost of Gen2 over a remaining Gen1. If you really want gen 2. You could also go with the large pack which brings the cost down a bit and has an estimated 330 mi of range.

When you connect the phone via bluetooth, I assume it only streams what is on the phone at that time? For example if you've got your music player on, and are streaming, can you switch to a Podcast app without touching the phone?
@ElectrifiedOutdoors
@ElectrifiedOutdoors 8 күн бұрын
Great question. Currently it's an audio connection. So it's just like if you had headphones or a headset connected to your phone. For example, if I have music streaming and I also have Waze open audio from both apps comes through unless I'm using one of the music apps that's built into the rivian. If I'm doing that then no Bluetooth audio comes through and it only connects when there's an incoming or outgoing phone call.

I have 3 kids and I’m torn apart between buying this 245bhs trailer or the 208bhs, i see this is 2.5ft longer would it restrict which campgrounds i’d be able to go to?
@ElectrifiedOutdoors
@ElectrifiedOutdoors 11 күн бұрын
Both are good choices. The 245BHS will of course give you slightly more room. I don't think so...but of course that will depend on the campground. This unit is 27.5ft long so let's just say 28ft. Most campgrounds we have been to only have problems with units longer than 30ft on certain sites. So I would say, not 100% certain, but as long as you stay below 30ft you shouldn't run into too much problem. Once you get above 30 ft. then can can start restricting which sites you can use at a particular campground. The other thing that restricts you is electrical. The bigger units often have multiple AC units and require a 50 amp hookup. There are still a lot of campground that have mostly TT30 or 30 amp hookups on most of their sites. The 245BHS has 30 amp service.

How does it do if you want to cut your lawn as fast as possible? You're going really slow and spending a lot of time on turns so that's burning a lot of battery. If you put the blades on high and mow at 5 MPH with simple left turns can it do the whole acre on one charge or not?
@ElectrifiedOutdoors
@ElectrifiedOutdoors 25 күн бұрын
Great question. It will cut much faster but the high blade speed really runs down the batteries. Im not sure how much runtime you would get mowing at 5mph. Two variables would be if the property has hills and how long the grass is. Runtime is significantly reduced when the grass is high or if your cutting more than 1/3 of the length. In my use case I have a fairly hilly and bumpy lawn which prevents me from mowing too fast. I'm also striping and prefer cut quality so I take longer.

You should have a Tesla account and the Tesla app. Ford and Rivian (and in the future other OEMs who have signed up for NACS) support plug and charge (no app needed). With the NACS plug and charge you pay full price though. Tesla offers a membership for $12.99 a month which gives you the same price as Tesla owners. For that, you definitely need the app and account and you need to initiate the charge through the Tesla app. Absolutely on the FPL chargers. We used one last year in Yulee and it worked great!

I just recently got my R1T and had a hard time finding the avoidances such as toll roads so thank you for that. I don't know if I like only being able to select it for individual routs and wish you could have it as a general setting. Some of the improvements that I hope they make would be increasing the font size (or at least giving people the ability to do that), adding stop signs and traffic signals because in areas (especially the DMV) where here are a LOT of traffic signals telling me to turn in 100 feet means nothing and the last thing is smartwatch integration with haptic feedback. The reason why I still use Apple maps is because they give me all of this and when they have things like "go past this light and turn left at the next light" it gives the driver better feedback than "turn left in 100 feet."

There is some misinformation being given here. On your first trip you said it was a 125mi drive and you were leaving with only 90%. You arrived with 8% yet said your efficiency was about 0.9mi/kwh. The R1T has a 125kw usable pack, meaning even if you average 1mi/kwh you'd only be able to get 125mi of range out of 100% charge which you did not start with. So you either lied about the distance you had to travel or stopped and charged and didn't include it in the video.
@ElectrifiedOutdoors
@ElectrifiedOutdoors Ай бұрын
Hey there! Yes I could have done a better job explaining the details. The usable capacity of the large pack in the Rivian R1 first gen when new is 131 kwh. When first released it was slightly lower, they opened up more capacity later on with a software update. The gross capacity is 141 kwh. The overall average was a little over 1mi per kwh. Overall when towing the travel trailer we average between 1 and 1.2 mi per kwh. Driving 60 yields the best range with the range going down closer to 1 when we go 65 or more.
