Water bottle guys arent a scam imo. Its hot as hell, they are bringing ice cold water to you in the intensity of the heat. You have legs....if you want water for cheap go and walk to a store. They are openly telling you its 2 euros and you pay it if you are desperate enough. They are not forcing you to buy water or making you feel guilty about it. Its all about demand....if your thirsty and need water right then and there you dont care that its 2 euros. Now....if they are filling those bottles with fountain water or tap water....now thats a scam.

I was in Rome 25 yrs ago, i swear it was nearly empty...at least on the street. Inside the Colisium (spell?) There were tourists like myself but it was so calm and not crazy crowded. Amazing how things have changed.

I'm not sure the first guy was a scammer. Lautari is a rehab community that atually exists, they also have a website with a financial statement in it. Moreover, he said you could pay with the card and scammers usualy take only cash. He was a little pushy, but probably legit.

I feel like a lot of these scams rely on people being nice or flustered which is fair….but like what do these people do when they run into genuine asholes? Like, say I kick the cup and walk off. Finally I found someone that really trolls the scammers I see a lot the another channels but they not aggravate like you are to those horrible scammers. I been there and India I don’t let none of them try to play me or follow me to convince me to get scammed

I'm from Chicago and there are places I wouldn't go even with the cops next to me. But overall it is a great city. Every place has bad areas, but I have been to Athens many times and overall think that Greeks are very law abiding citizens.

The thing about these petitions is, as a tourist, your signature means nothing. I was in australia and someone asked me to sign something for no money, and I was like ''ah... sure...'' but then they were like, wait where are you form? America. and they said, oh no, you are a tourist, we can only take signatures from citizens. I was glad to run into that guy, because that's honestly how these petitions work in real life... otherwise these people would just be filling out the petitions with fake names anyhow. don't sign stuff, don't join stuff, don't give your money to anything. I had a friend in high school raise money at a grocery store for her disabled brother to go to basketball camp. he didn't want to go... so she kept all the money. i'm so skeptical of where all my $$$ goes now.

In my 40+ years of world travel passing through many of the world capitals I often passed through Rome on my way to Libya where I worked for 2 years. On my second trip from Thailand to Libya I decided to take a couple of days off and tour Rome. The first thing I noticed was being an American my passport was not stamped by immigration which disappointed me since I liked the visa stamps of the countries I hac passed through. After getting cleared and getting my suite case, I started looking for a taxi, as I walked through the airport, I has many men walk next to me and out of the side of their mouths they asked me if I wanted a taxi, thinking it would be a rip off I looked for a real taxi. The taxi recommended a hotel near the Colosseum. Checking in after a long flight and having some experience of avoiding theft I asked the hotel desk man did they have a safe deposit box that I could leave valuables in. He told me they had that service and gave me an envelope to put some cash in. I put $500 in the envelope, and he wrote out a receipt written in Italian with my room number and other numbers and what I glanced at to say $500. The next day I walked around Rome and was not impressed with many people coming up to me trying to sell me something, so I decided to cut my visit to Rome short and leave to Libya the next morning. As I checked out paid my bill and gave the hotel desk man my receipt, he gave me the envelope when I opened it to take out my money, I saw only $50. I looked closely at the receipt and saw it was written $50.00 . Since the hotel man had asked me to sign the receipt when gave him the envelope, I knew that going to the police was useless. That was over 35 years ago. I have never been rip off before or after that incident but then I never stepped foot in Italy again and have no plans to. There are many places in this world where you don't have to be on guard for thieves while on a vacation or travel. Rome and Paris are countries to avoid.

In 1993 my wife and I got kind of scammed for a polaroid photo at the Eiffel Tower. The guy charged us $10. We were like C'est La Vie and laughed about it. But 30 years later it's the only photo we have from that trip so it kinda worked out.
