I find the idea very interesting and I will definitely try it once 1.0 launches, however, I'm not completely sure whether the building costs (AI limiters) and power required to build this is worth it.

You should maybe mention early in the video that you’re using mods as it may not be obvious to new players who I think are the primary audience. The refinery blueprint you use is not possible to create in the small Vanilla blueprint designer. Otherwise an informative video.

12:05 mergers do not have a priority and will grab evenly from each belt assuming everything is backed up. They do this the same way as splitters, just backwards. When there is room for an item in the merger (they each store a few items) it grabs an item from each belt, if there is no item on a belt it marks that belt as top priority to grab from first next time it needs an item. That priority is only for one item though. It does this to evenly grab from each belt. Similar logic is used for splitters. That's why the first belt you attach to a splitter will have the first item go out that side. You can use this to make pseudo-priority mergers by putting a manifold of mergers next to a manifold of splitters: A - input B - priority input O - output S - splitter M - merger > v < ^ - belt A B v v M < S v v M < S v O This example takes 1 item from A for every 3 it takes from B, but this can be expanded. Each row doubles this ratio. More specifically the ratio will be 1 to (2^n)-1 where n is the number of rows. I use 8 rows which gives a ratio of 1:255, and fits nicely into a blueprint.
@jordanhoman0212
@jordanhoman0212 3 күн бұрын
The priority you may be seeing is that lower speed belts tend to take priority due to not having an item ready more often. In other words, it tries to take equal amounts from each, so the lowest speed belt gets everything taken if possible.

Its really cool :P Ah sorry, I was probably not clear when I showed it. Essentially I had made it so it only worked when I had maxed the first belt, the second that was not maxed the system fell apart, the same was true for when I maxed all belts, the system got backed up but could not feed all smelters fully. I fix it throughout the episode, at the end you see the version of the belt priority system that works, though it is highly inefficient and ugly XD
@jordanhoman0212
@jordanhoman0212 3 күн бұрын
The merger on the left is pulling evenly from the first and second belt which causes the first belt to backup. He accounted for this with the overflow splitter right before it (bottom left), but he does not have the same safeguard between the second and third belt.

There is no gravity physics in the game, so they are entirely aesthetic. I would generally remove the foundations from the blueprints. Most of the time, buildings+splitter/mergers don't fit exactly to the foundations, so you can squeeze multiple copies of a blueprint closer together if you leave out the floors. Then you can just zoop in foundations later (or before, if they are only on the bottom level in your design).

respectfully, I have to disagree with you. starting location depends a lot on building style. your top spot for example, I have tried to build in several times, and it is just way too cramped for me. what good is 4 pure iron nodes if I only need 2? I personally believe people focus too much on node purity. I like to decide how much I need first, then pick spots and node purity based on my needs. for a brand new player, I think the grassy fields is the best. it gives you plenty of room to learn building styles, and such. and you can learn about node purity by comparing the impure and normal nodes, so that when you do find a pure node, you understand how special it is. I really like the dune desert. contrary to what you said, there is quartz just in the upper corner, which means the dune desert has all the basics plus caterium and quartz, plenty of biomass and enough water and coal for a coal plant. thats really all I want from a starter. by the time I need anything else, I will be expanding my infrastructure. for my 1.0 playthrough, I think I am going to start with the grassy fields, just for nostalgia.

I go to to the area he calls his top spot all the time. When You get foundations select the largest foundation then select vertical then hold down CTRL to align to the world grid then zoop vertically about 8 -10 blocks and then switch to horizontal and build in the sky. Build a ramp to get up and down.
@jackblade281
@jackblade281 24 күн бұрын
Always love different opinions, and yea you are right, it's a lot about build style, I see some people exclusively making a floating platform above the world and dragging the resources up there to use, I like to challenge myself to do more vertical builds. My only issue with the Grassy Fields is the lack of pure nodes. In my opinion it actually makes it harder because you need more miners and as an extension more power, making it harder for a new player, but its all subjective, and everyone should play where the ywant and in the way they want, satisfactory is great because it let's us do that 🥰

AMAZING! Over 500 views on this video so far. You, the viewers make my long dead heart stir ❤ I might even start caring about the biological diversity on planet MASSAGE-2(A-B)b if you keep this up! Next episode is in the making and I hope to teach so much about how to build nice looking structures. I am no TotalXclipse, Bitz, What Darren Plays or Fluxo. But I will try my best to make easy to follow and apply tips for base design and some rules of thumb that makes sure it is easy for anyone of any experience level to follow along! Once again, thank you so much for the massive support! 😍

Happy to hear! It is still hard to get a good schedule for recording, editing and publishing and this video took 3 days to make. Positive comments like yours really helps me feel motivated to put in the work 😊

How has the game mechanics changed with the introduction of the Dark Fog (enemies)? I played the game before the enemies and it was a totally chill game. I haven’t played it again since the enemies were introduced. I came back to Satisfactory with the ability to turn the enemies to passive. I’m not well-equipped to play games that require fighting and fast reflexes.

Luckily you can turn the Dark Fog off entirely in the game settings! The most significant way the game has changed is that you need to think a bit extra about how and where you build stuff and placing turrrets and stuff. It is more of a background thing than a primary game feature. With that said you can turn up the difficulty of the dark fog to the point it is the primary thing you are doing, it feels more like a intense TD Game at times.
