@@samirakaximi6338 Hi 👋🏼 I replied with a couple shorts on this topic. Generally, a quicker drop off and consistent routine helps them adjust faster and cry less. They WILL cry initially. But when parents linger, it just prolongs the anxiety and they end up still crying, sometimes even longer. It like builds a false hope you might stay/they might leave. It's definitely counter intuitive 😩😩 so uncomfortable leaving your crying child. But we usually find that a quick hug, kiss, I love you, "I'll be back to pick you up after naptime" etc. is best and helps them adjusts the quickest. Hang in there!

I worked there. I was good . I left because of that. ( the cameras) A pheadophile will always find a way ,usually during pick up . Posing as an uncle or aunt, you have heard these stories . I am Tall/ big. The kids didn't care. The parents had this idea that if anyone was a threat, it was going to be me. I worked my time and would've loved to stay. Instead of that, I asked for a letter of recommendation, got it, and left. I do regret it because those kids don't have defense. In my opinion, cameras should be forbidden as should be all personal (and work related) phones. We had to change the babies in the ladies' room no cameras there except you're phones. Do you really want to think about that. No cameras whatsoever.

Most kids in daycare are there because their family doesn’t have that kind of support, not because the parents *want* to spend hundreds of dollars a week (often thousands a month) for strangers to watch their kids. Besides, once kids reach the cooperative play stage, daycare greatly improves their social skills, especially if they spend most of their time with adults.

@thedaycareguide 2 ай бұрын
I know it's so painful to see 😣. So sorry that happened. 1. That child's parents need to keep their child's nails clipped (which is a struggle itself.) Suggest the teacher/director mention that to the parents. 2. Has it happened multiple times? It's upsetting and frustrating but unfortunately not uncommon, esp as they have limited language skills and sharing at that age. Teaches should be aware and supervising closely, but the nail cutting should help.

@@leahburns7237 maybe it's not clear because I don't show a clip of the child bc its hypothetical lol...this isn't in reference to them throwing water on the floor. A LOT of preschoolers like to play in the sink while washing their hands. It's a sensory thing. While doing that, they tend to make a mess. Throwing water on the floor is a different story. Sorry that wasn't clear 😅.

This isn't referring to a child intentionally dumping water on the floor. Preschoolers often play with water in the sink while washing their hands. They're like mesmerized by it. While doing that, they *accidentally* often make a mess, whether on their clothes, on the floor, etc. This example is in reference to that, not intentional water dumping.

I mean honestly, most children do act worse at home and esp. act up more for their moms (unfortunately, but it's true). That's like 99% of all kids because you're there home/comfort space. Not really "weird" though - sounds like maybe the teacher isn't aware of that.

Thank you for the video! I work as an infant teacher and this is useful for advice for the parents 😊 I always wonder about these things though… if we were as smart as Korea we would get about 2 years paid maternity and paternity leave. But most places don’t allow you to raise your child. It just makes me wonder, it may seem like a good thing to socialize your baby and be able to leave them with other people, it’s said here that it’s good to have your child attached to different caregivers. I just always wonder about this because typically research shows that it is best for the child’s development to spend as much time with their parents as possible until they get older and actually need that child-to-child interaction. I’m not sure why that is, maybe more love, support, and consistency from Parents? But I think being able to leave your kid at a daycare is convenient, but it probably isn’t a good thing in the long run. It could possibly be link to why mental health disorders are so prevalent where I live, since poor development usually means lack of emotional control, conflict resolution, ability to communicate, and interact with others in a positive manner. But I think the culture is that work comes first and family comes second in the US (that’s where I live). It’s just interesting to think about how something we perceive as good may be causing a larger problem 🤔
@thedaycareguide
@thedaycareguide Жыл бұрын
You bring up a really interesting point! And yes, I am definitely sharing from the perspective of American culture and working parents who need to have their children enrolled in childcare during the first few years of life. And many parents would like to stay home with their children and simply can't afford to. Interesting you mentioned Korea; I've actually visited there several times and their focus and priority on family, love, community, respect, humility, consideration, etc. is a whole nother ball game and very different from the US. Even though people throw around those words in the US but its really not practiced 😅 nothing like Korea, that's for sure. It was mind-blowing different in a good way. I think there's a lot of things contributing to the mental health issues in the US but you certainly raise and interesting point.

As a daycare teacher how do you approach and get parents to understand that their lack of discipline or discipline style may be contributing to their child’s misbehavior. Many times I have observed children’s disrespect towards parents and the same behaviors I have complained to them about and the parents does nothing to stop it or change it.
@thedaycareguide
@thedaycareguide Жыл бұрын
This one is tough. It's an uncomfortable situation and very touchy since it's basically addressing their parenting style. I would try to address it directly with them and/or with the director despite it being uncomfortable and I would pose it as a team effort (which it is) - "it's important we work together and commit to implementing strategies that may work to support Johnny's behavior. Are you willing to do that?" It can also help to share general resources with them explaining it so it comes from a third party. I am working on doing more videos around these topics that you can hopefully share and might help as well!

I decided to withdraw my child once he ended up with RSV and HFM within a week of each other. I understand children get sick, but the school had zero communication and didn’t inform others of the HFM. I enrolled my son at another school two week ago and he’s already sick! But they have much better communication and transparency to illnesses going around!
@thedaycareguide
@thedaycareguide Жыл бұрын
Yea, the transparency so parents have a heads up and can look out is very important. Also, some parents choose to keep their child home until a certain illness clears, which is their right, but schools need to inform them so they can choose.
@thedaycareguide
@thedaycareguide Жыл бұрын
On the flip side, it definitely is a catch 22 because for every illness notice we put out, there's a handful of nasty parents contacting us and giving us a hard time and blaming us, esp. when there are a lot of notices going out - and it creates a panic and chaos. So I think some providers try to cover it up for that reason. Doesn't make it right, but it does get very exhausting to deal with when it's outside our control 😞 and is. def a common reason ece professionals decide to leave the field.
