The upholsterer can guesstimate. If she's doing it herself and doesn't know know much fabric to purchase, its going to be a disaster.

Lol this is giving unwanted flashbacks to when I was working at The Canadian Big Box Fabric Store.... we had to help the customers calculate the amount of fabric they needed for upholstering 😭 there was even an ancient paper manual we had to dig out from under the till every time to help with figuring it out 😅

I'm sorry.... 3 yards for 90 inches? I was okay at math and I STILL wanted to cry at that

L x w x h- and convert the inches into yards or yards into inches or feet

My stint at Joanns really put my math knowledge to the test. I was one of the few who was willing to tackle couch problems. And thankfully, no customer ever complained about how much fabric I suggested, so I must have got it decently correct.

I’m sure the people at the cut table have had the exact same argument in their heads. They know what’s up.

Omg I wish this video could be played at the "craft store" I work at. You have no idea how many times people walk in saying, i need enough for my curtains, for my chair, for my couch... ma'am there is no standard size for any of these things. I once had someone come in and say her friend told her we had a calculator to figure anything out. Nope, no we do not. Were doing the same exact math you would have to do.

Worked in Dress department of Spotlight for nearly years. Too paibfully accurate. And as ai cut curtains as well,...how do people not think to measure the area they need to cover?! Also, the shock they get at how expensive it is buying per yd/m here in Aus

I feel like that would make a great video game. Maybe the fighter doesn't have flight or communications ability but there are still some maps or databases predownloaded. It would be kinda like a Star Wars version of Subnautica.

I just cut it when i worked for a department store. I got asked by my manager why i didnt mention i could cut fabric. Im like its not hard, grab scissors, measure and cut.

“3 yards should by enough.” Yeah for like 1/2 a cushion.
@13animeroxКүн бұрын
My gram told me that if you’re making something that doesn’t give you yardage, “Take how much you THINK you need, double it and +2. Better having too much then not enough” after a while you can lower the extra as you get a better idea of how far material gets ya

When I worked at fabricville, which is the East Coast version of fabric land which is a Canadian fire store. We literally had a book and in this book you could flip through it and it would give you an estimation of how much fabric you would need based on the size of your sofa. It also included things like if you were making sheets or bedding for single twin, queen king, etc. And honestly, if I was the one cutting your fabric you probably could have shown me that picture and I would have known how to figure that out. Does the customer need to figure that out on their own? Absolutely, but would I have done it because I am an overachieving neurodivergent psychopath? Also absolutely!.

When i worked at a pet store people would ask for the "fish expert" or "dog expert". Like im sorry to burst your bubble but we are absolutely NOT hired to be experts... We are hired to give you pamphlets (which the managers never ordered enough of) and help you find the products you need. You should 100% do your own research before buying a pet whose life you would be responsible for. It is not my fault that another employee told you something wrong
