Old post but I'll ask anyway. Do you know if the YG2800i has a cylinder that can be honed? I was given one with low compression, I want to put new rings in it but I want to make sure the cylinder isn't chrome lined or something . Thanks

Hi. Have a question. Got a older 550 series B&S engine. Been a good engine up until lately. A short while back it started burning more oil first a little but now a lot, running slower and then normal and visce versa, the spark plug is frequently getting clogged with oil or carbon, lots of white smoke coming out, one time the engine wouldn't turn but i got it going again. Leaking oil around breather assembly. My question is it worth fixing or will the engine need a overhaul? Do i have a bad breather assembly or do i have a blown head gasket, or possibly both? Need your advice badly.

@@Slim1423 Good morning slim. Let's just go thru this and make sure we haven't overlooked anything first. Is the oil at the proper level? Should only be about 18oz. Is the air filter in good shape? How is the mower stored when not in use? Flat on the ground? Got any pics that may be helpful to me?
@Slim1423
@Slim1423 7 күн бұрын
@ZombieDaveAZ Yeah, the oil was at the proper level. It use to only use 2 to 4 ozs oil on a yard, but yesterday i was going through about 8 ozs, every time i filled up the gas tank! White smoke was blowing out the muffler, the spark plugs kept getting clogged up. Lastly, it cut off and i couldn't crank the engine up anymore. So, i may be at an end with my mower. Mower sits on my porch, with a cover over engine. I use pennzoil SAE 30, and i try to keep engine oil topped off. Oil leaking around the breather assembly. I use gas either fresh gas or gas mixed with fuel stylabilizer if keep for a while.

Ethanol has water in suspension since it is not refined to maximun of 196 proof but instead to only about 130 proof . After it sets for an extended time separation can occur. hence since water is heavier than alcohol or gasoline it collects at the bottom of the tank and is the first to be drawn into the carb essentially drowning the engine. Do not use ethanol blend gasoline if possible. If you do be sure to draiin it from the system before storage. or add a fuel stabilizer. Shake the saw to remix the fuel in the tank after storage before starting.

any tips on getting out the emulsion tube when they are stuck in the carburator?
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ 18 күн бұрын
Jim, first I would research if a NEW carburetor is available to you and if that's a viable option. If you locate one, just know that worst case scenario is that will have to buy it if things go wrong. I have had some stubborn E tubes in the past. Generally a good amount of WD40 and pushing down with a flat screwdriver will get it loose. You may also need a small Allen wrench to help it out the last little bit. The angle on the Allen wrench is what does it. For a good visual there is a gentleman on KZfaq "Bruce's shop". He does a lot of these carburetors and is very good at it. I hope it helps you out.

I’ve done everything you did to yours and mine still won’t start is the something in the security system that could disable the fuel pump
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ 27 күн бұрын
Hey Gary, that's a good question. When I read it I tried to do a little sleuthing on the subject. If it was a security issue (from what I'm reading) it would show a hard code that could be read from an OBDII scanner. Perhaps and this is just a guess but perhaps a super high dollar scan tool could reset that code. That would be the way to go I think. If it's a "hard" code, disconnecting the battery would not erase it. So basically I am no help to you on this. Perhaps a 4runner forum would help you to narrow this down. Best of luck my friend. 🤔

To anyone reading my reply comment to this guy BeADad. Do NOT Tell him anything!!!! Here's why. I spent HOURS trying to solve this particular problem. You don't have to subscribe to my channel, I don't monetize. It's MY findings being shared in order to help others. This guy has the balls to ask one of you to share what you learned by watching the video because he can't take the time. This is a huge problem for tik Tok scrollers. If you don't catch their attention in 10 seconds they move on. Lol 😂 Now, because I didn't like the the way he phrased his comment and if you guys support me he will be FORCED to watch the video. Then maybe he will solve his car problem or maybe he won't. I personally don't give a F--K! This is the epitome of someone trying to look over your shoulder to get the answers during a test. You did all the work and this clown just wants the answers! That's BullSh!t!! Whew I feel better. Now let's see what this keyboard warrior has to say. I'm sure it will be a winner. Educate yourself and be a better person. Don't help this guy. I actually do feel better. 😁

I got a 4218 that I have modified everything on. Nothing left but the ring on the filter cover, bored the carb venturi out from 9.5mm to 12mm and shaved the butterfly shafts and screws, ported,muffler modded, ignition timing advance, opened the hole up from the fan to the carb section, ground all the safety rakers off the chain etc. Went from 14 seconds to 7 seconds on the same log. What has remained consistent is it won't hot restart unless you pull the trigger. Pull the trigger and it hot restarts 1st pull every time. So if you have one and nothing else works try that. Come to think of it, setting it back to fast idle might also work. I haven't tried it or even thought about it until now, found a solution that worked and didn't pursue it further.
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ Ай бұрын
It sounds like you have a helluva saw! Yes, for hot starts and just general operations it's always best just to read the owners manual. For restarts : pull the choke all the way out and then halfway back in. That sets the high idle. Good luck with your modded saw. 👍🍺
