I'm not a game developer, not even a big Sonic fan, but I had to pause for some minutes at the moment of the Wii U exclusivity deal notification because it genuinely infuriated me. Imagine being a developer working on what's perhaps the most ambitious Sonic game since Sonic Adventure and doing the best you can to deliver the best product, just for the big company to tell you that you'll have to make big compromises because it'll be an exclusive to the weakest console (by far) of its generation. It is outrageous.

This is a tragedy, and it's all Sega's fault for meddling with the project too much. Edit: Honestly, you're right about that, it could've been alot worse. If the game was released in that state for the other platforms aswell, it would've been the Sonic '06 catastrophe all over again.

Basically, Sega were psychopathic sociopaths escaped from a mental asylum who screwed over both BigRedButton and SonicTeam back when they were working on Sonic '06, resulting in two Sonic games going down in history as the worst of their kind, that could've been such great accomplishments had Sega not existed. Honestly, if I were there, and bold, I'd start a revolt. Hopefully Sega got what they deserved. And I would've adored Sonic Synergy too!

I hope he can come back and make an iceberg on sonic 2.

Didn't think a Sonic boom video would both make me laugh my butt off and almost make me cry. You did an excellent job showing what was happening behind the scenes.

It does feel weird that Boom is just gone, but with stuff like Modern, Classic, Movie and now Prime Sonic all co-existing, maybe we can get some sort of "Spiderverse" thing for Sonic and see the return of Boom that way, heck maybe even see AoStH and SatAM Sonic again. Doubt they'll ever bring back the brand as a whole, but I wouldn't mind seeing these versions of the characters live on. Oh well, at least they immigrated Sticks to the main canon.

sonic boom was also a spin off so sega kinda had a back up plan just in case it were to fail, thats why it was a spin off.

This is honestly heartbreaking. I myself didn't really care for the games or the series since I wasn't a Sonic fan at the time. It wasn't until I decided to give the series a shot a few months ago that I really got into the whole franchise. Sure, it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was awesome, goofy, and I loved the characters. From there I went to Sonic Prime, Sonic X, the movies, and finally to the games. If I am as deep into Sonic as I am right now, it was thanks to Sonic Boom, and to see it being ruined and ultimately cancelled because of SEGA's unreasonable expectations is just depressing. It had so much potential and now its own creators want to act as if it never existed. I can’t really blame them seeing how it turned out, but it just feels like loosing an integral part of why I'm into Sonic in the first place. We can only hope it will make a return someday, although it really does seem like all hope is lost. Leaving depressing stuff aside, I'm glad Sonic is getting back to his feet thanks mostly to the movie and to Sonic Frontiers. Even with all we are leaving behind, the future looks bright. Thanks for the video, by the way. Even if I'm late, it was nice to have a more in depth view of what happened.

Did the higher ups at SEGA not learn ANYTHING from the last time they screwed with a big Sonic game’s production and deadline with Sonic 06?!, and this time an entire other company got caught in the crossfire. Hearing about what happened behind the scenes with Sonic Boom and what it could have been has made me really upset, we could’ve had an amazing experience but instead all that stuff happened. At least the Sonic franchise and BigRedButton have gotten back on their feet now a days, and hopefully things will get even better.
