Unfortunately we are going to landstuhl 😂 but we will be there the beginning of October. Would you recommend getting a vehicle there or shipping one? I just sold my truck so we can go either way right now. Just looking for an opinion / recommendation. Thank you for your help

@@matta6695Depends on a couple things… How far is the VPC from your current home? Is it a hassle to drive there/back? Will your lienholder/insurance company allow you to ship the car overseas? If you have a reliable car that won’t cause issues when shipping on the gov’s dime (and is nearly paid off), ship it! You can always make adjustments when you arrive, but you will definitely need a car asap when you get here. The other option is to sell it, and purchase one before you even arrive (through a dealership). People often wait 4-6 weeks before their car is available and have to pay rental car fees while waiting (unless u can get a free rental included with your TLF). Will any of your kids be going to the middle school? If so, there’s only one and it’s in Grafenwoehr. If you want to be close to that school, you could live in Netzaberg which has many American families. Otherwise, Freihung, Sulzbach, and the smaller villages around Vilseck are ideal off base. Amberg would also be a good choice if stationed in Vilseck.

Good question. The government will pack you up on their dime, but the movers won’t bring plastic boxes, only cardboard. You can get away with shipping yourself plastic boxes if you have a sponsor/coworker set up your on base mailbox. But I don’t think you can get away with plastic boxes for the entire HHG shipment 😬

That all depends on a number of factors. Driving history, marital status, cash value of car, horse power, your age, type of coverage, etc. For example, I have a 2021 BMW X1, married, no car accident history, with full coverage (includes roadside assistance) for a monthly payment of €105. That was a cheaper quote than other insurance agencies I called. I’m gonna make another video soon that goes over this 😊

I've been in that area but haven't filmed the barracks. If you're PCSing to the KMC (which includes Sembach), then unaccompanied E-6 and below are required to live in the barracks unless you receive a statement of non-availability from housing to live on the economy.
