Jiraiya could beat Pain, as Pain himself said that (ch. 383) and Itachi is so sick that intense combat will eat up his life span. Ocular ninjutsu wont work against Jiraiya as Pa and Ma frogs will help break him out of it. Jiraiya Sage mode greatly increase his physical prowess so normal bone Susanoo won't really be an issue. More over Pa and Ma have multiple tricks like barrier trap, sound genjutsu and such.... There is a reason why Itachi said either he or Kisame won't be able to beat Jiraiya in 1v1. Unless Itachi go all out with Amaterasu and full power Susanoo, which will cripple Itachi severely, half-assing against Jiraiya will never work. Well if they both go at Jiraiya at the same time, he will likely die, though I think Itachi would not leave the fight unscathed. Nature chakra is like a hard counter to chakra eaters like preta path Pain, so I don't think Samehada can eat it and supply Kisame (if it did Kisame will turn into rock). Fighting under water is not a handicap for Jiraiya as he hid underwater several times to get advantages when fighting Pain. All in all, Jiraiya is really strong, but I do agree with you about Naruto having several plotholes.

@@vietnguyenquoc4948 i can't agree with you on the pain thing. Jiraiya wouldn't survive something like Shinra tensei on the scale pain used to destroy the entire village. The only reason Jiraiya was beating pain was because he was being sneaky and the paths couldn't go all out without destroying the village and obviously that's not something pain wants to do,another thing is we know Jiraiya struggled against naruto in if i remember correctly 5 or 6 tail chakra cloak form and he even got a huge ass scar on his chest from naruto while we see Pain dog walking every form besides the full 9 tails manifestation of kurama and he was gonna beat up enraged 8 tails chakra cloak Naruto. I think you overestimate Jiraiya which i can understand because like i said the story is full of plot holes but adult Jiraiya couldn't beat Adult Orochimaru but teen Orochimaru couldn't beat Itachi and was scared af because of him, so yeah i believe shippuden Itachi slams Shippuden Jiraiya, also we see Itachi beat what up at that point is the strongest version of Orochimaru (the multiple head snake one) while that severely behind what Jiraiyas strongest form is and also Jiraiya would need some time before he could go sage mode, also not to mention i doubt the ma and pa frogs could deactivate tsukuyomi since Obito was able to put Yagura the 3 tails jinchuriki under genjutsu something which should've been impossible since he was a perfect jinchuriki (another plot hole) and we know that Itachi had better genjutsu powers then Obito and he could also use Shisuis ability, forgot what it was called but the one with which you can basically rewrite somebodies brain

You are both correct and incorrect. Itachi gave himself the sickness because of how he trained/prepared himself before each battle. Itachi was a strong fighter and trained obsessively next to his friend shisui, but after losing shisui and gaining the mongekyo, he unlocked the tsukuyomi, his strongest TRAINING TOOL, but it came at a cost. It is said that when you're in the tsukuyomi, you can perceive time differently. Itachi uses Tsukuyomi on Izumi Uchiha, causing her to live through decades of a happy life in the span of a few moments. When she dies of old age within the illusion, her actual body dies as well. Because of this, it is evident that using the illusion you can change your surroundings to anything you want or envision anyone in the illusion you wish. Itachi would use this to his benefit by using a crow clone to cast tsukuyomi on himself to prepare for any situation or using his currently knowledge of any opponent to train against what they might do. However, it is also stated that just simply being in the tsukuyomi places a great strain on your body because of the jutsu itself, regardless of how it's used. So him using the tsukuyomi to train is what gave him the sickness.
