I fell in love with Shirley when I worked as a one on one therapeutic helper for a child in a charter school where it was taught. The kids were so pleased with themselves and their own skill development, and I learned a ton myself! When I began homeschooling I knew I wanted to include it!

We did Phonics first and my 5 year old is easily able to decode the words in the primer lessons. She is on lesson 40 of the primer now. This is still an option for parents who don't want to teach sight words. There is still a lot of value in this learn to read curriculum. Even when child reads phonetically words naturally become sight words. The repetition in the primer speeds that process.

This was an excellent overview and flip through. I love scripted curriculum. I feel it makes it so much easier. Your little ones voice in the background so adorable! 🥰🥰

I homeschooled our children in the 1980's and used Rod and Staff curriculum.. We did a lot of traveling around the U.S. and visited the place in Kentucky where the curriculum is made. We were invited to eat with a family and we had a whole tour of the community. It was wonderful!

We used to go get a cookie after Mass when I was a kid, lol. I think I would have liked a slurpee even better!

I have both :) But because English is not my native language, I don't use them much. I use sometimes the Divine Mercy Bible, mostly for checking other translations of a passage. I regret the Divine Mercy Bible not having colorful tabs, the single color ones aren't very usable in my opinion. I like the Mercy Moments, but I haven't read many of them yet. I need to read this Bible. The Great Adventure Bible is sitting in the box I got it in since I got the Divine Mercy Bible. It was admittedly a bit better for my purpose because of the colors but I like the stumbling upon a Mercy Moment.

Hi! Are you still using Easy Peasy reading? I tried it when my daughter was in 1st grade. It was just too difficult. However, she’s now in grade 3 and tested into level 1 at 8 years old. I strayed away from it years ago because I thought it was just too difficult. Now I’m finding out it’s grade levels ahead! 😊
