Does anyone use these kinds of filters to reduce moire effect on camera bodies that don't have an optical low pass filter?

You kinda read my mind, always picking gear I'm interested in! Wonderful review. Wondering if it'll work with the FX3 handle mount for Smallrig on this one for the A7SIII. Now you need to buy Falcam F50 QR for your manfrotto stuff.

That’s a good question. Wish I had it to test it out myself. Definitely a unique and cool looking cage. One good thing about recently picking up the a7IV is that there are already Version 2 and V3 cages from pretty much every manufacturer at this point. Lots to choose from.

All camera gear is overpriced, lol! I have so much SmallRig on all my cameras. I don’t just use SmallRig though. I also use Tilta, Kondor Blue, Shape, and 8Sinn, but all those brands usually cost even more. This Rhino cage isn’t a basic cage though… it’s a re-design/upgrade to carbon fiber from the original heavier aluminum cages.

Wow, this video explained so much for me. I am a total newb to all of this stuff and have been watching all of these vids saying, "you have to get this filter, it's essential!" but not explaining why. You explained "why" in a very thorough and easy to understand way. Thank you.

Wind test wasn't OK. I'm thinking of buying this (June 7th 2024), but you needed to make the wind noise loud enough, not hard to do, without the foam cover and wind muff on firstly. ie an oscillating fan at high speed should be more obvious as the baseline comparison of what foam and wind muff (dead cat) should reduce. Then put on the foam and wind muff, that should have completely cut out the booming wind sound, unless the wind muff is totally useless, which is what I seem to feel is the case from two other 'wind test' reviews of this mic. Maybe don't put on the foam noise reducer, just the wind muff only. Then switch on 75hz and then 150hz cut. If with all the wind noise reductions on you can hear any wind booming then it's a fail, would probably even fail blowing on it with the breath even. All reviewers seem not to be testing it at the limit, ie if it's to be used as an onboard run&gun shotgun mic on camcorder it's coming over to me as a failure in terms of wind noise. If you want a wireless indoor mic, but aren't concerned about *ELIMINATING* wind noise then it does sound fine.

I am using the filter because of this video, but why in my camera pop some glare? How to achieve the bloomy looks at some light without causing glare? Please help
@RayValencia
@RayValencia 22 күн бұрын
that washed out mist is part of “the look” from mist filters. It looks nice when you let sunlight leak through a crack, or between leaves, etc but if you point it straight at the sun/bright source the effect may get too strong. Lights can be in the shot, but not aiming straight into the lens. That will make any lens flare, but the mist will intensify it. Hope this helps! 🤓

@@RayValencia Thanks for the explanation, yeah i did shoot it straight to the light source and it makes the glare so pop up. So your suggestion must be that i can shoot to light source but dont let it straight to the camera, am i right? Sorry for my broken english 🤝

Hey Ray. Awesome channel, your videos have been super helpful over the years. I’ve got a question that’s always bugged me as I can’t figure out the settings. When I’m using the 2 x Rode Wireless mics I have them set in split mode and yet monitoring on the camera I’m hearing a mixed or merged audio. I’m not hearing 1 mic’s audio in say the left ear and the other mic in the right. Also when I import and seperate the tracks in Da Vinci it only has a merged recording. Wondering if you’ve run into this problem? Or do you just take the individual recordings from the onboard memory on the Rode TXs?
@RayValencia
@RayValencia Ай бұрын
Thanks onasht. I appreciate that! If you use the 3.5mm jack (Input 3) it will separate the mics on 3/4 (if you have your Rode set to sep. outputs). If you want to use the 2 XLR ports, I ended up using a Comica 3.5mm to XLR channel splitter: geni.us/Comica_XLRsplitter Then you can adjust the headphone settings in your camera to play on your left/right ear. Hope this helps. I just got the Rode Wireless PRO yesterday, so I'll be visiting this topic very soon.

Great video! At 1:36 you put CPL&VND 1-5 stop true color filter. Please tell me how do you adjust with one nob wheel CPL differently from VND or VND from CPL?
@RayValencia
@RayValencia Ай бұрын
That is the hardest part. You have to rotate your ND, then take it off...rotate your CPL, then pop the ND back on (granted, hoping it is still in the right spot).

Hey man, thanks for the review and for showing us how to do the multiple-tracks-output part. I just have a question though - will it be possible to replicate the outputting-to-4-separate-tracks part using a Zoom H5?
@RayValencia
@RayValencia Ай бұрын
For sure thanks for checking it out. I think you should be fine as long as you can separate all your channels out, which may require an extra cable. I use a Comica 3.5mm to XLR splitter, which gets you a Left/Right XLR output of the Receiver output port: geni.us/Comica_XLRsplitter

Just hope to complement this great review....about the tilt brake, I heard from a former Sachtler and O'Connor employee that it is not intended to lock the payload but preclude tilt movement of a balanced and counter-balanced camera payload, and to fend-off mishap when the operator necessarily takes his hand(s) off of the pan bar(s), and especially when he must leave the camera unattended, even for just a moment, in case a passer-by inadvertently bumps into the camera or tripod. So it does be unsafe to to break contact with an imbalanced, improperly counter-balanced camera payload on a fluid head/tripod system, even with the tilt brake applied. For this reason, the operator should not apply the tilt brake and leave the camera payload unattended for even a moment until the camera payload has been balanced on the fluid head, and then properly counterbalanced. For the extremely heavy payload, which requires a matching tripod system, there will normally be BUILD LOCK which can LOCK the head from tilting and panning for safety concerns.
@RayValencia
@RayValencia Ай бұрын
Thank you! I highly appreciate your info on this. I own a Sacthler and I just shot a feature film on the OConnor so I’m used the lock feature being a true lock. This is why I mentioned the average user not having their counterbalance properly set and camera in the center, meaning it could possibly tip. Although, I’ve never had my camera tip on its own. Like you were saying too, It does take some force to get the camera to tilt. But the Pan Lock, really locks it down. Thanks again for your help on explaining this.
