Could you put wax resist over top of underglaze instead of using metal stilts to prevent sticking to the shelf?

This is well timed. I need to make a couple dozen of these things over the next week. Might even use some Fool's Gold. 😁

Is a kiln like this capable of firing nonstop for over 24 hours? I’ve had a project on the back burner for years now which I cannot complete because there are no places around with a kiln or oven capable of reaching those temps for over 24 hours.

I have taken an egg shape cut out of the belly portion of a altered bottle or jug type shape. And attached the opening back over. A coil can be added along the seam to insure a solid connection. That's a vertical form with the same type theme of the 'life ring'

Hi Tyler - this is an excellent explanation esp. the visuals. But how do I solve the problem? Can you offer stepped details on how to alter the ingredients to work towards a positive outcome? Cheers!

Hi, is it possible to feel these cracks on the surface? I have a Japanese stoneware dinner set over 30years old. I can see what looks like crack lines but the surface is fine. I can’t feel any ridge or crack. Thanks

Can you fire a kiln without all the sections, to make it a smaller space?
@seattlepotterysupply
@seattlepotterysupply 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott - yes, you can remove a ring/section, as long as you rewire it properly after you remove the ring. If you're not sure how to do that, please reach out to us at [email protected]. Thank you!

Is this clay suitable for electric kiln, will it hurt the elements??? Is alumina hydrate enough to keep it from sticking to kiln shelves??
