Mickey's evolution is like Bruce Campbell's in the Evil Dead series. He starts off a coward, but by the end, he's a badass.

You talk too much. Also, turn on the subtitles so you can understand the foreign dialogue or you will miss a lot of the story and meaning.

Makes excuses about going 2 weeks in between watching episodes. We had to wait a year between seasons. Once over 2 years.

No, it's still bad to insult disabilities even if they're evil. Just like misogynist or racist or fatphobic or homophobic comments aren't suddenly okay if the person you're directing them at is evil. Insult the evil, not characteristics other people have too. (Tells them how you really feel about them if you think it's okay, basically.)

Mickey makes a good point; the Doctor always puts Rose first (except when he forgets about her and puts Mme. du Pompadour first, I suppose).

Sophia Myles first name is actually pronounced with the "i" as a long "I" sound rather than a long "e" sound, which is different for us as Americans.

There's a lot to like in this episode, but I really dislike the Doctor's romance with Mme. du Pompadour and his treatment of his current companions, Rose and Mickey, particularly after her worries in the previous episode.

But Sarah Jane didn't spend her whole life with him; he didn't even give her that option. That's the thing Rose has to worry about. But companions sometimes do want to just get on with their own lives again too, I suppose. I don't think we're supposed to think Rose and the Doctor are having sex, but I also think that's up to audience interpretation, I suppose. Season two really leaves that ambiguous, whether they mean to or not. Interesting discussion about how Rose (who must be 20 by now) is looked on compared to Bond.

Basically in Evangelion's universe it is possible to forse Shinji's body into reforming, sinse all the components of his body were inside the Entry-Plug's LCL and re-afix his soul within it. There's a whole brand of biology in NGE's world called "Metaphysical Biology" dealing with those concepts and it is the discipline that Fuyutsuki teached when he was a professor, before the Second Impact.

Apparently there was an extended version of the live action segment that made a lot more sense. It didn't make it in for two reasons: time and budget.

You know what's funny about your guys? You can armchair sit there and talk about this is stupid. This is, but you're not writing the movie. You're not writing the shows? What are you doing? I mean, you watch this for what 8 seasons. And you're still not satisfied. And the dragon has shown too many times her biggest dragon can take out whole armies. But, yeah, you find it impossible that the dragon could destroy a whole entire city. And do you know how strong his flame is? Yes, they turned into skeletons. But you'll find that out very soon now when he. He melts the iron throne

Rei is the clone of Eva 01 when Yui was fused with her. Eva 01 is a clone of Lilith. So Rei is a bit part of Yui and Lilith.

The theater scene is to put the audience to the test and the author asks them: "does it feel good?", it's mirroring the instrumentality for Shinji. What it means is, they ask the audience is diving deep into a fantasy world (entertainment) feels better than real life. The creator of the show was a big otaku and suffered from it, he understood that you need to accept real life and stop hiding into entertainment to flee the real world like otakus do. At the end, Shinji accepts life over "fantasy" (instrumentality) because he understands that even if it can be painful it's the only true way of living. The creator tries to directly adress the audience to ask them the same question here.

It's been guessed that the soul in Unit 00 is the first Rei (the child who was killed) that's it doesn't work well at first. That's why when Shinji tries Eva 00 he sees "Rei" but feels it's not her.

The reason why Rei appears briefly before Misato and Ritsuko death is a hint that everything you see is through the instrumentality project. Even in Episode 1 you can briefly see Rei in the streets before the Angel attack. She is watching all humanity history when they are fusing together into a single being. This is a nice touch because what we actually see during the series and the movie is only through the instrumentality project, like some kind of "record", the events actually happened but what the audience watches is the recollection of them. Edit: And Andew had an interesting take on the water drop animation we keep seeing through the story. It may be a reflection of what I explained, that the whole show is actually happening though a very brief moment.

It's been generally concluded that what Gendo says to Ritsuko when you cannot here him is "I needed you". Which reflect the title of the movie and shows he used her (and her mom) all along yet she seems to be "happy" about it, calling him a liar for it. Ritsuko was so under Gendo's control that you can say it was "enough" for her.

I'm impressed you guessed right the general idea of the last episodes, it is made in a way it's very confusing at first. The technicalities are explained in the movie but in the series they went for the substance rather than the form, going deeply into the characters emotional state of mind rather than explaining why they ended there. The creator really wanted to focus on the very theme of the show there: accepting life, don't let fantasy worlds (entertainment) eat you alive.

I feel bad for the dude, he clearly watched too many bad animes before or thinks the bad tropes still apply here... He seems to only understand surface level to a lot of scenes. Being able to see a romance between Shinji and Asuka is already farfetched but the Rei scene is clearly about herself understand human feelings and totally not about her love interest for Shinji. I wonder what will be his reaction at the end of the show but I hope he will understand this is not on the same level on your average anime.

Sophia Myles didn't have to audition for the of Madame de Pompadour, but the onscreen chemistry between her and David Tennent was clear to see, and they dated for over a year after filming this. Madame de Pompadour was highly intelligent, and Sophia portrayed her wonderfully. That she could calmly understand the concept of time travel doesn't surprise me. This is definitely one episode I would pick to take on a desert island.

This episode always reminds me of the Nerdfighter community's "Evil Baby Orphanage" idea: With access to time travel, instead of going back in time and killing off all of the villains in history, we'd take them as babies to a secret orphanage and give them to families who would raise them to be good people. Killing Blon/Margaret would have been one way to stop her from committing any further atrocities, but the TARDIS found another way by resetting her life.

24:18 Jackie always spoke highly of Rose's father because she wanted her daughter to have a positive image of image to look up to, she didn't wanted her to know he was some kind of failure constantly between two jobs. Everything related to Rose saving her dad was locked in some kind of a time bubble and the moment her father died like he should, the bubble burst and the timeflow continued, but since Rose was at the side of his father right after he died, then this particular even changed, it was no longer her dad dying alone but there was an unknown blond girl holding his hand in his last moments. All of the other events concerning Pete Tyler were unchanged.

The unsullied never knew another life but they were still allowed to leave if they wanted to. Its hard to grasp for modern standards and this is why its important to learn history. Eventhough George RR Martin created a fantastical world around it, many of the events were inspired by history. I love how they dont try to pretend that the people of a time with no electricity, had the same morals and acceptance as we do today. This is part of why i love game of throens. They dont shy away from the ugly.
