My breaking switch was causing transmission problems. Car sometimes would not move in reverse and when it did it suddenly would put on the breaks without me stepping on the break paddle! Freaking annoying untill I got the schematic of the switch for the 2007 Corolla and found out how the switch sends signals to the PCM which controls the ABS system and ECU! My believe was that the switch was faulty as my scanner detected the code and was causing the PCM to automatically enable the ABS like a ghost! Took it out and sprayed some electric cleaner all over and readjust the all switch where when the pedal is not pressed the button of the switch is free from any pressing. This fixed the problem and has been running like it was before! After 2 weeks on this fix I changed the transmission fluid and filter and Corolla runs even more smoothly! I ended up replacing the switch to a genuine updated version for peace of mind! Yes a faulty "Breaking Switch" causes transmission problems and most mechanics will fail to detect the issue!

The way I learned is to very briefly short out the low pressure cutoff switch - you can unplug the connector and stick a paperclip in between the two contacts. Be very careful doing this and do not leave the jumper in place for more than a few seconds. DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if you ruin your A/C system. Or just take it to a pro.

We apologize for the error in our video where it was stated that pistons rotate inside the cylinder. Pistons actually move up and down, with the crankshaft converting this motion into rotational power. The only time a 'piston' rotates is in a Wankel/rotary engine, where the 'piston' is a rotor. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you find the rest of the video helpful!

This is a really terrible video. Aside from the fact that there are massively incorrect statements within the first 60 seconds, you keep jumping between 2- and 4-stroke engine components with no warning, no information about how they differ, and how each component really works. You can't jsut make a statement about the crankcase being an area where an air:fuel mixture passes through on a 2-stroke without explaining why. You immediaterly moved on to state that the crankcase is where oiil is stored in a 4-stroke engine without even explaining why a 2-stroke doesn't have/require a sump, or a complex head, timing system etc.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inaccuracies and the lack of clarity in the video. We recognize the importance of differentiating between 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine components and explaining their functions properly. Your points about the crankcase and the differences between these engine types are valid, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We are committed to providing accurate and informative content and will work on creating a more detailed and clear explanation in future videos. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us improve.

@@studentlesson Thank you for actually reading my comment and replying. I know that many people struggle to visualise how an internal combustion engine works, and I feel like trying to imagine a piston rotating would only make that visualisation process more difficult. A good place to start with engine education is to start at the heart of the engine: the crankshaft. Explain what it does and what’s attached to it and work backwards from there. It’s much easier to understand that than it is to work from the head, injectors, valves etc down.
@AoifeNet
@AoifeNet 17 күн бұрын
Pistons don't rotate inside an engine. Pistons move up and down and that force is turned into rotational power. The only time a 'piston' rotates inside an engine is in the case of Wankel/rotary engine where, as the name implies, the 'piston' is in fact a rotor.
@studentlesson
@studentlesson 17 күн бұрын
Thank you for pointing out the error in our video. We apologize for the mistake during the scripting process. You are absolutely correct: pistons in a typical internal combustion engine move up and down and do not rotate. The force from the piston's linear motion is converted into rotational power by the crankshaft. The only exception is in the case of a Wankel/rotary engine, where the 'piston' is actually a rotor that rotates inside the engine. We appreciate your understanding and hope that despite this error, you found the rest of the video helpful. Thank you for your feedback, and we will ensure greater accuracy in future content.

I have new rotors, new pads, new caliper on drivers side, but the piston inside the caller drags when I let go of the brake pedal, what could cause this? 😛
@studentlesson
@studentlesson Ай бұрын
If the caliper piston is dragging even after replacing the rotors, pads, and caliper, there are a few potential causes: Brake Hose: The brake hose might be collapsed internally, causing fluid pressure to remain in the caliper and keeping the piston extended. Inspect the brake hose for any signs of damage or collapse. Caliper Bracket: The caliper bracket could be worn or misaligned, preventing the caliper from retracting properly. Ensure the caliper bracket is securely fastened and aligned correctly. Master Cylinder: The master cylinder could be failing, causing excessive brake fluid pressure to remain in the caliper. Check for any leaks or signs of malfunction in the master cylinder. Brake Lines: Check all brake lines for any kinks, restrictions, or damage that could be preventing proper fluid flow and release of pressure. Pad Slides: Ensure that the brake pads are able to move freely within the caliper bracket. Lubricate the pad slides as necessary to allow for smooth movement. Rotor Thickness Variation: Even though the rotors are new, there might be excessive thickness variation, causing the pads to drag. Measure the rotor thickness at multiple points to ensure it is consistent. Improper Assembly: Double-check that all components were installed correctly, including the caliper, pads, and hardware. Even a small misalignment or incorrect installation can cause dragging. If you've ruled out these possibilities or need further assistance, it might be best to consult with a professional mechanic to diagnose and resolve the issue effectively.

It's easy to change yourself. But you will need a way to pull a vacuum when you're done. Harbor freight sells least expensive air compressor hose fittings and the compressed air ran vacuum pump.
