These animals are adapted to the desert, and should be stocked in Arizona and California, along with the Arabian oryx.

What part of the range did you hunt them
@_DB.COOPER Жыл бұрын
@@sidjckc7664 Jornada del Muerte, Small Missile Range, McGregor (including Otero Mesa), Rhodes Canyon. Off range Oro Grande area North to AO11 out to Tres Hermanas. These are areas off the top of my head that I remember. I still have my once in a lifetime hunt I have yet to draw. I was a Border Patrol Agent for 30 years so I routinely patrolled the aforementioned areas. I had an advantage due to my daily duties, I pretty well knew where oryx would be in most areas.

You are absolutely right, they are great table fare! I’ve been on a half dozen hunts for these and they can be tough to kill. What cartridge did you use?

Too bad they are an invasive species with no natural predators. If you come across one be sure to keep your distance as they can be very dangerous.
@erikm8372 Жыл бұрын
Too bad their potential natural predators have been nearly eradicated… Mexican wolves. Cougars and bears too, if only they had higher populations themselves. Also, I read that the government and/or military are solely responsible for the oryx, as they mainly live on federal land. So they’re still invading off base?

I hate that if their populations grow too large they shoot them and thin them out. I understand it, but still they're prettier than deer.😁

Don’t they live within federal land, or a base or something…

@@erikm8372 BLM land for the most part, but they wander onto some private property too. I suppose they wander into White Sands Missile Range which is huge and also includes the Trinity Site.

Poem by Théophile Gautier The Wren Quick as a dream Vibrant as a will o’-the-wisp You flit incessantly From the oak tree to the thyme bush Alert and pretty wing Little crown-bearer, Wren! Oh, Wren! Under the branch, growing Like a green mantle, Your nest, a moss cradle, Hides from the hawk’s eye. It is there that your kingdom lies The fragrance of pine trees embalm it. Wren! Oh, Wren! It is there - there is your nest, Ten eggs as white as milk Your concealed nester covers them And your trickle of a voice, joyous and frail, Proclaims the news everywhere. Wren! Oh, Wren! Even in winter still The tree hears your whistle Your crest of roseate comb Leaves a warm reflection, And the woods, white with frost, By you alone seem to come to life, Wren! Oh, Wren!
