One thing they didn't mention was Gas Shells! In the Book Aftermath: Remnants of War they do mention those Gas Shells. They are the most dangerous because of the thin walls of the shells. They had yellow strips painted on them, and if they were still in decent shape, they could see the remnants of those strips! But that was many years ago, and hopefully they've released the gas within and will never poison anyone else... When will we learn that starting wars is the stupidest thing Man can do...

Of the only tool you have is a smmer, you see every problem as a nail. A friends group going out, is not direct democracy. Because you can just leave, and not go out. Thats a negotiation and people exerting their prefrences. Democracy is only appropriate if people have intests similar in scope, but different scale; to protect minority intrests. All the shareholders of a company have a similar scope but there are different scales of ownership. This making a god of democracy is only apealing to academics.

The last time I was in the Verdun area (2000) we hiked through a designated trail and they were apparently preparing to put in an additional trail. All they had done was run a bulldozer across the land to create the new trail. In the process of running that dozer, they unearthed several unexploded shells. The interesting thing to observe in such areas is that the trees were all the same age, and roughly the same height. At that time the trees were all 80 years old. The terrain was completely decimated my shells so that surface was pockmarked, There was absolutely no evidence of civilization--no structures. I can imagine that you simply cannot dig from the surface down two inches and NOT find something to include ordinance. It is a a no-mans land.

In my hometown in germany, there are still a lot of ww2 bombs the ground (i know "we" started the war, but that doesn't matter for now). So last year the EOD detonated a british 500kg Bomb about 2 km away from my home. As this thing exploded, my whole inventory started shaking like crazy... an that was just one single bomb. Unimaginable how a full bombing raid must feel like... the force behind this bombs is just scary. Hope everyone who risk their life to get rid of these remains, is coming home safe each and every day. Stop war and hatered and make peace ☮

With your permission, I would like to comment that leadership and positions of authority are fundamentally different. In fact, we can use the current occupants of authority to demonstrate that leadership doesn’t necessarily align with these positions. Leadership is essential for organizing various aspects of life, whether it’s in domestic affairs or among friends. True leadership exists naturally in any group, guiding and supporting others. However, when power becomes tyrannical and starts imposing violence or coercion on the population, it loses its legitimacy. Leadership is about guiding and serving, not dominating or oppressing. When authority crosses that line, it ceases to be true leadership and becomes something entirely different and harmful.

I am currently in flight training I want to be a bush pilot one day however this has inspired me to research becoming a wildlife pilot. Since I was a kid I always wanted to be a part of conservation efforts for my local wildlife. I can’t think of a more perfect way for me to do it than this. Thank you for opening my eyes to another possible path for me to pursue!

Oh my God you lot are so Geeky. Never seen or heard anything like it. I was so impressed with the professor. Writing out music by hand from those priceless books. I write music by hand as well and get a lot if satisfaction from it. My father was a bandmaster and did the same for band scores. It was called dryknacking. I attended a presentation by an EOD team when I was in the service. The presenter said that one of their mottoes was "What you don't know, will kill you."

I read an article about the Demineurs in the Smithsonian magazine about 30 years ago, very interesting for sure! As was said here in the video, those bombs were made to kill and unfortunately 100+ years later, they're still doing that. Bravo to these brave men who are taking the risks to help keep others safe!
