This is proof that woody Shaw was one of the greatest, if not the greatest trumpet player of all time. Yes he had unbelievable technical ability not aproched by many, lee morgan, Clifford brown,Freddie hubbard, Charles tolliver. To name just the elite class.but to have the ability to play with such molodic enginuity and feeling that captivates the heart is true greatness. You left us too soon woody,thank you for leaving a legacy of beauty for us to enjoy forever.

One of my favourite albums ever. The opening track still blows me away after nearly 40 years. I saw them with my girlfriend at the Sydney Opera House in early 1988. Jazz doesn't get much better.
