I am sorry to say this, but Larry Young's timing in his solo on the first track is terrible. Sounds downright amateurish in regards to timing.

Out of the ruins by Nyman is also affecting. Composed for the Armenian people because of the tragedy of the earthquake.

This is proof that woody Shaw was one of the greatest, if not the greatest trumpet player of all time. Yes he had unbelievable technical ability not aproched by many, lee morgan, Clifford brown,Freddie hubbard, Charles tolliver. To name just the elite class.but to have the ability to play with such molodic enginuity and feeling that captivates the heart is true greatness. You left us too soon woody, thank you for leaving a legacy of beauty for us to enjoy forever.

Uninhibited stream of consciousness capturing the unique musical experiences of a master. Herbie has evolved into a genius of unbounded resources that enable him to explore new musical territories here-to-date not heard. The brilliance of Miles’ great Quintet is the foundation of this foray into the DNA of the modern day song form. Herbie owns this new song form riddled with intriguing rhythmic and harmonic inventions; excursions that would bring smiles to the spirits of Tatum, Monk, and Bud.

One of my favourite albums ever. The opening track still blows me away after nearly 40 years. I saw them with my girlfriend at the Sydney Opera House in early 1988. Jazz doesn't get much better.

This strikes me as the real deal in jazz, esp. with Jennifer Sanon singing. Sure wish there were more info though, like when this album was cut. Was it 2017? Or earlier?

Thank you for posting, and special thanks to Mike and Elaine Harris for their efforts in successfully recording these performances, to share them with the Bill Evans estate and the world, Mike Haris made more Bill Evans tapes. May they be released. Bill Evans and his trios \seemed to turn on the stars with each performance, and feel a special connection to this venue.
