Did the English think that babies all around the world babbled in English rather than their native tongues?! This Anglocentrism hasn’t allowed Britain to yet properly realise that there’s more than one language native to these shores - and plenty more beautiful languages coming in also. It’s a strange and subtle type of xenophobia.

Aww very cute. Lighten up guys, I thought this was going to be a baby from elsewhere too but I think it’s about how funny and young they are to have that Scouser dialect! Baby can’t even talk but makes baby sounds with the scouser accent. Cute, It was a lockdown story too?!

I really thought this would be a Southern kid talking scouse . As a scouser myself, I would expect no less . In fact , i'd expect a little more as she seems a little behind most 20 month olds in Liverpool with her speech level.

It's baby that doesn't know how to talk, instead in there babbling stages. Babbling doesn't usually have accents, It's there talkling stages they usually learn the accent. This baby babbling is mimmicing the tones.

That's delightful, but so natural. Of course she imitates the speech of her family. 2. Did you know that newborn babies recognize the speech (or similar speech) they heard in the womb? For example, Italian newborns accept Italian and Spanish, but they can tell German is unfamiliar.

The only reason these posh snobs hate the Scouser accent so much is because of the Irish influence on the Scouse accent. But a lot of Brits are so unaware of their own bigotry that they don't even know WHY they are so hateful towards Scousers. They just continue to blindly carry forth their bigoted, imperial, colonial attitudes. They think it's just a cute little preference they have for a more posh sound- but it's not cute, it's bigoted. Liverpool is made up mostly of people of Irish decent. But they go around saying "We're all British" because being Irish is STILL something they are made ashamed to admit there. In fact, ALL immigrants to Britain are expected to renounce their roots and chant "We'Re AlL bRiTisH." Imagine the double bind that puts brown skinned people into when bigots refuse to accept them as British anyway. This hatred of accents is similar to how a lot of Americans make fun of Southern American accents. Looking down on them, joking about how stupid they sound. A very large demographic of African Americans lives in the Southern states. Yes, white Southerners also have southern accents. It's complex. It comes down to feeling superior to others because of their accent. There is a whole, sorded history of racism behind why certain posh people hate and look down upon certain accents. In summary: hating people for their accents is not cute. It's racist and ignorant. Do better.

Liverpool was a WELSH CITY! The Irish invasion was much, much later, the kkchhh sound you will find in Welsh NOT Irish. The Northern Welsh used to rule all the way up the west coast to the borders, which is why Cumbria has lots of Welsh place names. Your too stuck in your nonsense rhetoric to learn!

What was that radio show they had, the DJ absolutely hated scouser accents and the whole goal was for you to ring in and be able to swallow the scouse long enough to say your name and that you were from Liverpool before he’d kick you off air. He had an ear on him though and would catch most out. I think he was up in Lancashire. Bloody funny. It’s still the only accent that I will lose my mind over if I hear it. I have a raging hatred of the beatles and when I was wee, I would bang my head against the floor if I heard John Lennon’s voice, any beatles song really. The one that was forbidden to be played in my presence was Yellow Submarine. I would scream like an air raid siren every time I heard a scouser, nobody could ever figure it out. Mam would have to put on The Cure or Talk Talk to get me to quiet down. Depeche Mode worked, except for Just Can’t Get Enough. I was probably the only 5 year old with my own vinyl collection that I’d play on my own record player. Bless my mam for having embraced new wave and New Romantics.

As a Southern American with British roots and who considers herself an Anglophile, I am very disappointed in some of these comments. All I see is a cute baby with a cute little accent. I don't know what the whole fuss is about. I didn't know that an accent could divide so many people and could lead adults to call a baby such vile names. I really did hold Brits to a higher standard than that and I'm not trolling when I say this.
