If you watch the show Zack still gets equipment from his father it's Tori who makes the children run and hide in their bedrooms when Matt comes over. She has the chip on her shoulder and Zack knows better then to go against her.

Here is my honest opinion on what happened. The discussion about the farm purchase should have taken place between Matt, Zach, and Tori. No one else should have been included in the negotiation meeting. I think Zach was upset that Karen had been included in the meeting. At the time of the meeting, Karen and Matt were unofficial partners, there had been no proposal or engagement. That would have indicated to me that Karen didn't need to be included in the discussion. That is where I think the meeting went wrong.
