When you remove the audio, you remove the crowd. That's what makes it. Anthony Hudson makes the most cringe commentary of all time. You can tell he pre-prepared lines and it comes off as what he thinks his favorite commentators might say if they were in the same situation.

North have made the top 4 a heap of times since 2000. North won the first 9 matches of the 2016 season. At the end of 2016 North Sacked 5 of their very best players including Brent Harvey. Their obsession with youth and rebuilding is what cost them.

I’ve noticed the same about JB and BT after listening to a few of their calls on the radio, I think they are a lot dryer on 7 because they are under a bit more pressure from 7 to keep the calls ‘family friendly’ (think of BT’s call of Boyd’s goal in the granny). I think Channel 7 have got the screws on them tight, no so much on the radio though which is why they show more flair on triple m.

Eagles are reasonably healthy but they have no depth in midfield. Take out Kelly Hunt and Reid and its big trouble. Hewitt another one who has been out all year. For the Eagles they're very important. That's fundamentally the issue. Also a lot of young and a lot of old, means that they'll tire as the year progresses.
@boundaryrider4 күн бұрын
Yeah I don’t mind them getting games into younger players. Not like they have to worry about finals. But they definitely need to build out there depth over the next few years and if a few experienced players fall to the way-side maybe the best for the team going forward
@BDub20244 күн бұрын
@@boundaryrider Eleven guys will be gone in 2-3 season (or at least in final years). They're the best Eagles players really, so the development of kids is vital. But they don't really have many draft picks. There will be a large gap until the kids move into the mid 20s. The other thing, all the academy players for the northern states make it harder for the bottom teams to rebuild with talented kids.
@BDub20244 күн бұрын
Yeo and McGovern have missd a lot of footy in recent years. Very important. But recently no Reid Kelly Hunt... a lot of speed and class missing. Kelly is a huge loss. Eagles going top heavy because they're wanting to give experience to H Edwards. At same time they're wanting Flynn in and experimenting with B Williams upforward. Then they're playing around with fitting Darling J Williams and now Hutchinson. All talls. When Oscar Allen is back with Waterman they'll have to move a few tall forwards out. So that's a key reason why they're going with a lot of tall players. Hurting their midfield run though and pressure in forward line.

@@boundaryrider 87 to 93 is not a 10 year absence. North made 3 prelims since Carey left, not 2. He wasn't the youngest captain, Dench was. In the last 8 years they've had a 6th, 2 x 8th, and a 9th place finish....but other than that, you're spot on. Keep up the great work

A relocation or merger will NEVER happen with North as that's the cowards approach and by far the easiest fart in the wind poke people can make with any struggling team. Hindsight is by far the cruellest factor when it comes to drafts and trades and North has always been up against these things with rather unique circumstances. A product of poor off field management is what's to blame unfortunately and despite the darkness of where things have gotten, its currently the now and later that's only to the minds of club and fans. To invest into the future and entice those who want to be a part of a better one in etching a new found legacy in the clubs history. There's cash to splash and a worthwhile opportunity to be had a North and it ultimately boils down to people regocnising that dream to work at and make into a reality. Other clubs are the easier option and what it's worth, when has North ever had to not work against the odds. Yes I'm completely biased to my club for this and that's just a kevel of acceptance that we've been terrible long enough and that despite where we are now? Things are turning around for the better.

Agreed. It's lack of players who are good in the 24-29/30+ age range. Goes ba k to the 2010s under BS, where players were draft and then let go after a short period of time. Admittedly these players weren't very good, but then it goes back to recruitment as to why they were chosen?? Look at the 2017 draft as an example, we took WILL WALKER- a kid with injuries who barely played AFL, over balta, tim Kelly, Sam Taylor and half a dozen other good players. Walker delisted after 4 years...

North Melbourne's glory years were most certainly in the 1970s to the 1990s early 2000s. However after an incident involving two of their most star players having a huge falling out due to infidelity issues, the club has never been the same since. I feel for Brent Harvey most of all because he holds the VFL/AFL games record, yet he was only there right near the end of their glory years and spent his middle and late career trying to keep the club afloat. Lucky to play in the 1999 Premiership and was perhaps expecting to play in more during his early career.
@andyandrew75578 күн бұрын
North Melbourne's time of future glory will come again. They might have been bottom for last 5 years but when they start to have success at some point in the future they could have sustained success for 15-20 years much like Geelong and Sydney have and that's the upside reward. Every side will struggle and bottom out and North are going through that now. Right now is the best time to bottom out for a club because when Tasmania enter their first season in 2028 a lot of Victorian clubs will struggle to get top talent and rebuild strongly. I believe North Melbourne could potentially become a power by 2027 but they need to get a couple of really good key defenders in the draft as well as another goal kicking Key forward to take the pressure off Nick larkey and another tall power forward. Their mid field will be elite soon enough and Tristian Xerri has the potential to become the best ruckman in the comp in 2-3 years time.

Poorly researched and with numerous errors. We've made 3 Preliminary Final's since the end of Pagan era in 2007, 2014 & 2015. We actually lost over 2000 games experience in 2016 and we aren't even close to reaching the lowest point in our history, we've only had one losing streaking over 20 games this decade whereas we had two losing streaks of over 30 games in 1930's, had two winless seasons and another 3 with only 1 win. We can sink a lot further than we have currently and still not hit our lowest point. 😀
@LomuHabana8 күн бұрын
Tbf, that is very long ago. Roos didn’t “win” a wooden spoon for almost 50, and then won two in a row 21/22. Never been a consistent top side, far from it, but the last years are some of the worst in history.

It isn't just one player or coach to blame for North, it has been our recruiting staff; not to mention the million dollar offers we tried to get Dustin Martin and Toby Greene in 2016. (Not saying they were gonna be our saviors btw) People always tell me 'your club has been shit since 2020', nah... It was 2016, the year that sealed our fate.
