Thank you for the beautiful footage. This is a training ship for the Spanish Navy built in 1927.

The rescue specialist should not cross the edge without the litter, definitely not at such a distance between the two. The litter should not be tipped over at such a sharp angle, because it is dangerous for several reasons. Distance of the litter should be maintained from the wall by the rescue specialist tending to the litter. All of these errors are highly dangerous and unprofessional, and should be grounds for immediate retraining in basic high angle rope rescue.

if you look at the channel there are at least two other videos that explain why as well as how this SHOULD be done, and demonstrate the edge transition, being the PRIMARY point of concern here.

Herse the kicker. they dropped the basket 12 seconds into the video. thus the edit cut. The patient had spinal injury and the elevator was to small to hold the litter without tilting it up into a vertical position and so EMS had asked fire if they could keep the patient horizontal and take them down the side of the building. Radio transcript shows it took the team over two hours to rig this and get the patient down. part of that would no doubt be due to the fact that they rigged two completely independent systems for rescuer and patient . doubling required time and resources

Good information. These days private citizens should have some knowledge of rescue techniques etc. Climate is changing in some places, better to be part of the solution than part of the problem. So you're in Canada eh. Last comment I said you should come up here in winter for a bike ride. Well I got egg on my face, thought you were in a warmer country.

Great video. I keep rope and gear rescue kits for personal rescue here in Canada cause our weather is changing. I only use mechanical prusicks because frozen rope prusicks might slip. 69 years old and still pumping. Come up some winter and we'll go for a nice bicycle ride in the snow young man see if you can keep up with this old guy. Don't forget to bring your thermal underwear. Going to watch your other videos.

Thanks for the input James. That's a good thought regarding frozen ropes and hard vs soft grabs. Maybe when it hits -25 this winter I'll run some tests in video and see how it goes. Ty for the snow biking invite but Ima stick to my hot cup of coco.😉

A 4th use would be as part of a haul system.
@Bkdrft

As briefly mentioned in part 1 of our mechanical advantage series: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qb2gdZSbsb7Hg3k.html However the MA produced is highly inefficent for anything more than a few feet such as might be required if self ascending a short distance. As such it is not emphasised in barrie fire. If you think you may have do any real hauling or hauling on a 2 person load i'd suggest there are significantly better options such as the MPD by CMC or the new Maestro by Petzl...

Great video, what length of 12.5mm kernmantle rope do you have ineach rope bag?
@Bkdrft
@Bkdrft 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lloyd. Glad you liked it. We run an assortment of lengths from 60m up to 200m. Tallest structure in out city is approx 75m however longer ropes allow us to construct an our anchor system with 2 static lines or a static and a dynamic all out of one bag

Min 2:55 why did the belay lines cross instead of remaining in-line with the main line and rescuer?
@Bkdrft
@Bkdrft 6 жыл бұрын
Miguel Cordova in a true belay everything, every knot, every anchor point, every piece of hardware is backed up by by redundancy. so there are no single critical points. if the belay remained in line with the main what would happen in the event of anchor system failure? What would happen in the event of the figure 8 knot failure? This way and system can fail.. and knot... any component and it is backed up by an independent system ensuring true redundancy
