These were the epitome of Land Yachts. The green one as seen was a neighbor who rebuilt a wrecked Road Runner engine, and put a Shaker on it. We had 3 High School neighbors who had New Yorkers and Souped them up. Jimmy had the Green & Black 1. Dewhite a Yellow and Black 1, and Walter a Red & Black 1. Each one had its own Modifications, Engine Hood Tires Rims Stereo Systems Glass House Window Tint Etc. 1 even had Purple Dot Tail Lights. Sometimes on Sunday's they'd wash & shine those Land Yachts and meet up at the Skating Rink and drive backwards around the parking lot. They were so Adamant about they're New Yorkers. Whenever I see one , It reminds me of Jimmy Dewhite & Walter in they're Land Yachts .

yeah, one of those black lever tabs hanging down above the the radio and heater control. prob says ANT. I wonder what the other ones like that are for... such a cool car.

I actually checked the other day and Thoes black tabs you see , 2 are to open and close the air vents, the other black tab says (map), it's just a light switch for a light so you can see a map in the dark haha, I actually couldn't find an ANT switch, I don't know how it works either because the chrome ANT is broken off and someone stuck a cheap old black ANT in there for now so I never actually got to see the chrome antenna in action

My dad bought the New Yorker 4 door model in teal metallic new off the dealer lot in August of 1970 at a close out price, just before the 71's were coming out. I learned to drive on that car and inherited it after my dad died. Kept it until 1984. The 440 required leaded premium which wasn't easily available at that time anymore. The power antenna was an option and the switch would be there (along with the map and vent tabs) if the car had that option. Mine did not have it either. Another option was climate control which this one and mine did not have. AM radio was standard, which I had. Looks like you have the upgraded radio with FM. There was also an option for a rear seat heater/defroster which actually piped coolant to a heat exchanger located in the trunk. I did not have that but had a rear window defogger which was just a fan (didn't do that great of a job). I had crank windows; power windows were an option. Other options I did not have but were available that model year were cruise control and automatic headlight dimmer. You've got a dual exhaust - I'm pretty sure that's a later add-on. It came with a single exhaust. Only the 300 came with a dual exhaust that model year. I really liked that car. Drove really smoothly - typical 'land yacht' with no road feel. Nice powerful engine. Sturdy Torqueflite 3 speed trans. Super powerful & bulletproof V-2 AC compressor that weighed a ton. The windshield washer fluid reservoir was too small! There were no nozzles at the end, spraying the windshield; it was just the hose end, coming off the pump, that was aimed at the windshield. Hold the button down too long, and 1/4 of the tank is gone. haha The steering column is in two pieces that are connected by a rubberized connector (in the engine compartment). Be sure to check that connector for deterioration. Towards the end of my ownership, the steering gear was leaking a lot, so I drove it often without the power steering. That connector cracked as a result. Could have been a tragedy, had it happened at high speed.

beautiful Jade Green metallic New Yorker .. I’m an “all original” enthusiast too .. btw, the center caps on those chrome styled road wheels are not original for 1970 models .. the originals were more detailed. I currently own an original 71 Town & Country wagon in Glacial Blue metallic - would like to find a 70 model - I like the rocker switches and controls of the 69 and 70 dash.. for taillights and anything C-Body Chrysler Corporation email Murray Park in Tiffin, Ohio at [email protected] or see the website at cbodies.com ..
